Source says Wasserman Media Group, agency of Arn Tellem, had conf call today w/ players 2 discuss players options. WMG reps 70-plus guys.
One prominent NBA agent responded angrily to news that Michael Jordan is leading a group of hardline owners in labor negotiations with players. The agent said that Jordan's position is hypocritical and he would never send another one of his players to the Bobcats. "The guys are going bananas," another agent with several star players said Sunday night. And because Allen is in that group with Jordan you have to ask what that's gong to mean for the Blazers down the line with respect to free agents ... not that Portland is exactly a hotbed, but still ...
Updated Y! Sports: NBA, owners could be willing to tweak system issues to cut deadline deal with union.
Stern will fight hard to get deal before Wednesday PM, but one thing's for sure: He's never had less pull with owners. They're emboldened.
You fell for Allen's act the other day hook, line, and sinker. You think a leopard changes his spots overnight. If Allen had believed his brief little script, he would have continued talking to back it up. Instead, he was unable to answer a simple followup question. It was like asking Herman Cain about some detail of his 999 tax plan. Suddenly Allen wasn't taking questions. The owners could easily afford 53-54%. They're just putting out negotiationg positions. You've never seen grandstanding like this before? It means nothing to you that they won't disclose their financial statements while they claim to be losing money? It's all theater. Allen hasn't jumped ship from his willingness to spend. Duh.
Maxiep may be the second-smartest guy on this board. But this should really be obvious to everyone. Apparently not.
Seems like more and more players just want to play. Jamario Moon tweeted this: "Deal or No Deal?..........Deal!!!!! Let's play some ball!" I kind of wish Howie Mandel was David Stern. Jonny Flynn tweeted this: "Starting to see why so many things are outta wack. Ppl aren't held accountable. Let enough things slide & forget what's right." One thing that's out of wack? The amount professional athletes are paid to play a sport. But nobody's talking about that.
The majority needs to stand up and be heard!!!!!!!!! I feel like that wetback who got all the farmers together..... Eric Estrada right?
“@alanhahn: If #NBPA wants to turn tables, emerge today saying "We'll take this deal if.." and name a few changes. Pressure now on owners.”
The owners have already come out and said they would retry 50/50 with a few system changes for the players.
How far down the line? More than 30 days? I honestly think the emotional issues will be forgotten by 99% of the players by next summer. (If there is a season this year) It's like me on this forum. I read some posts that are so idiotic that I want to strangle someone. And then 2 hours later....poof.... the frustration is gone and I totally forget which moron wrote it.
I know, I was laughing this morning reading Hoopshype and all the comments about how the "hard core owners" group did not even wnat this offer on the table and Stern is losing control! LMAO, but I have to say the owners propaganda dept. is good and the players one sucks.
