First off I realize that not every owner cares. But we are talking about the majority when it comes to voting. And the majority is losing money especially if they can not keep their star players.

Secondly I realize that "Sell it if you can't afford it" doesn't mean go out of business. It means sell it to someone who has more money so they can afford to lose money. The players (and fans for that matter) could care less if billionaries lose money. It's a hobby for them right? And how many Mark Cubans are out there? Do really need to go to Russia or China to find our next owner like NJ?

This is what I think is going on. Basically acccepting the deal with tail tucked between the legs . . . get a few concessions to save face.

    NBA fan . .. tastic?

Baron Davis is currently employed by the Cleveland Cavaliers but may become a free agent due to the so-called amnesty clause that may be in the next collective bargaining agreement and allows teams to take a big contract off the books when a player is let loose. If that happens, ESPN reports that folks in Cleveland are thinking that the 32-year-old three-time All-Star would be let go and head to Florida to play with LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

However, sources tell ESPN that there are at least two other teams that are higher on the list for Davis, a native of L.A.: the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks.

Billy Hunter tells @daldridgeTNT on NBATV that, as relayed by Paul Pierce, "close to" 200 players in process of signing decert "cards"

To reiterate: 30 percent of NBA workforce must sign petition to force decert vote. Then up to 45 days of lag time before actual decert VOTE

Sources close to decert movement confirm they've collected signatures this week but also know WEDS deal-or-no deal deadline takes precedence

If there's no deal by Wednesday and deadline is not extended, then you can safely assume decert petition WILL be filed soon thereafter

But even if decert petition IS filed, union and league could/would continue to negotiate during those 45 days while NLRB sets up vote

To correct the record, there were only THREE sign-and-trades involving tax teams during previous six-year CBA, according to league source.

Eddy Curry to Knicks, Kwame Brown and Laron Profit to Lakers, and Shawn Marion to Dallas. That's it.

There've been a grand total of TWO extend-and-trade deals that anyone can remember: Garnett to Celtics and Melo to Knicks. That's it.

Can someone do a "Cliffnotes" summary of all this in the last few days?

It sounds like Stern is just throwing out his own revenue split for the league and cap system because he's getting tired of nothing being accomplished so he set a deadline.
