    To be fair, it was the Christmas tree industry that brought the idea to DC, but that doesn't mean they have to go through with it.

    I think you mean "Holiday Plant Fee".

    Yeah. There were some comments about that. They were saying if you buy "Holiday trees" instead of "Christmas trees" you can avoid the fee.

    I am not going to blame Obama or anyone, in particular, for this... but it's a waste of the government's time. Why does awareness and appreciation of Christmas trees need to increase? Why should the government do it? Why should the government act as a collection agency for what could (seemingly) be handled relatively straightforwardly through a trade association-type arrangement?

    And none of those questions even touch upon the "separation of church and state" aspect.

    It's just stupid.
