That was exactly how I read that statement. Following Hunter throughout all this, with all the spit and hate he usually comes out of negotiations with, this was a clear indication to me that there is a deal on the table that will work. "not the greatest proposal in the world" is far and away the best statement Hunter has said about a deal. Heck they were probably ready to accept the other deal and are just trying to save face.

Cautiously optimistic. It will be a tough pill to swallow for the players, but comparatively it sounds like a better deal than that of the NFL and NHL. With the minor league system, 162 game schedule, and limited income prior to free agency, it could still be argued that it is better than baseball.

Hysterical. Decertification is a joke of a threat. The players know this deal is the best they're going to get. They'll only miss one paycheck if they say "yes". If they say "no", they lose the season.

This is what I've been saying. The owners shot for too many goals. Too ambitious. This is too complex because of too many issues. Owners should have aimed for 3 changes and only 5 years instead of a 10 year contract. 5 years later, they could have gone for another 3 goals. Too many balls being juggled in the air simultaneously.
