I think you guys are trying to hard to not be homers. The computers have been raking us lower than the AP and coaches poll. A 20+ point win on the road against the #2-4 (or whatever Stanford was) should count for quite a bit.
Sure, because it's a mixture of coaching poll, ap poll, and computer rankings. So the humans are likely to factor in margin of victory, and I assume a computer modlel would factor it in to some degree.
Sounds about right. This game will hurt Stanford more than it helps the Ducks. Screw the bastards. If the Ducks can run the table (including a bowl game) they won't be able to ignore us.
hmmm that would be an interesting scenario. So are you thinking they get to the Pac 12 title game then lose and miss out the Rose Bowl? I cant think of a BCS game scenario that wouldnt involve the Rose Bowl or National Title game (though I think thats unlikely as well) Losing in the Pac 12 title game to a lesser team wouldnt have them deserving of an at large bid IMO.
Margin of victory is no longer taken into consideration in any of the computer polls. Our strength of schedule has been the thing that is most hurting our BCS ranking. With a win over the BCS #4 it should help a lot. I expect to jump Oklahoma but fear we still do not have a chance at the National Championship. If we jump Oklahoma I'm assuming we wont be ahead by much, so a win over Oklahoma State for Oklahoma will probably poll vault them back ahead of us. Hopefully the voters start to punish the Sooners for losing to a bad Texas Tech team and Alabama not playing in their own conference's championship game hurts them.
Alabama is an amazing team. I don't have a problem with them being ranked ahead of us, although I can definitely see logic for it going either way. Oklahoma should be behind, IMO, but if/when they beat OsU they'll leapfrog us. If Alabama runs the table, they should end up ahead of us, putting us at #4 in the final standings. I think and Oklahoma State-Oregon game would be amazing, if OSU will either end up playing for the Natty or behind us (after losing to Oklahoma). What happens is LSU loses to Georgia/South Carolina in the SEC championship game? Chaos. The Ducks just need to keep winning. Impress recruits every week and do what they can to put pressure on the system to give them another shot at LSU. Ed O.
What is the scenario you feel will unfold for us to be in Fiesta? Rose Bowl is an auto-berth for Pac Champ - which we hold in our own hand (USC is a huge game). Man, I hope you're wrong. I've got RB tix I'd have to sell, lol.
What bothers me about Alabama being ranked ahead of us is that they only dropped one freaking slot after losing to LSU. We went from being ranked #3 at the beginning of the season to being ranked 13th in the AP and 14th in the Coaches Poll because of the loss to LSU. How is it fair that Alabama dropped one slot but we dropped 10? We had to battle our way back into the top 5. It took us 12 weeks. Alabama lost and they didn't even drop out of the top five, let alone the top 10. And Oklahoma lost to an unranked team, while our one loss is to the #1 team in the country. It's complete bullshit.
