After narrowly missing the 2010 – 11 NFL playoffs thanks to a lackluster record and a slew of injuries, and then cruising to a Super Bowl title, the Green Bay Packers have spent this current season, looking to repeat. Currently undefeated on the season, the Packers will attempt to become the first team to ever win consecutive titles, with a perfect record from the first Super Bowl to the second. Standing in their way tonight however, is a Minnesota Viking team that almost upset the sports betting Super Bowl favorites; the last time the duo met this season. Here is a preview of tonight’s game.

The Green Bay Packers are looking for their ninth win on the season tonight, after winning their first eight games of the season. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has shocked many fans and critics alike this season, as he has already recorded 2600 passing yards and 24 touchdowns. These record numbers and his team’s current success, have Rodgers winning the MVP trophy by a price per head landslide come the end of the season. Yet, that being the case, Rodgers can’t win a second title all by himself.

While Rodgers and the Packers offense continue to cover up the glaring mistakes of the defense, Minnesota is a team that has had Green Bay’s number in the past. If any team can upset the Packers, it should be the Vikings. Sitting at 13-point underdogs going into tonight’s game, the Vikings almost defeated the Packers last time they faced. In that game, the Vikings, and rookie quarterback Christian Ponder took advantage of a Green Bay defense, which by all accounts has been experiencing a Super Bowl hangover all season long.

Coming out of its bye week, the Minnesota Vikings will be looking to build off their 23 – 21 victory over the Carolina Panthers. The Vikings will be hoping to combine the Carolina victory with the week seven narrow loss to the defending Super Bowl Champions 33 – 27. Theoretically, the strong play from both games, should allow the Vikings coaching staff to form an impressive bookie software game plan, to figure out a way to defeat the defending Super Bowl Champion Packers. At two and six on the season, the Vikings can’t get much worse, meaning to say, might as well play as if tonight’s game is there Super Bowl.

On the contrary, it will be up to the Green Bay defense tonight, to stop Christian Ponder and the Vikings run game featuring running back Adrian Peterson. The Packers defense, as we have alluded to throughout this article, has been the team’s Achilles Heel. At some point this season, an opposing team’s defense is going to find a way to shut down Aaron Rodgers. When that happens, the Packers defense has to be ready to make the stops necessary to keep the dream of a perfect season alive. Will tonight be that night?
