3 star Washington Husky commit Bryan Harper is interested in Oregon. "I'm committed to Washington but I'm very open right now," Harper said. "I've gotten some new offers but the only school I'm really waiting on is Oregon. Oregon is a school I really like, that I have always liked." And also there are rumors circulating that Dennis Erickson will not be able to keep his job even with a Conference title berth. So even if D.J. Foster commits to ASU that would give him a lot to think about moving forward.
on Sunday the 13th a USC rivals article came out with this quote... "Oregon has been bumped up to first with USC," said McCarthy. "I liked the visit - touring the facilities and bonding with the coaches. They're just a favorite. I've been to USC a bunch of times and like the coaches their too." (USC writer's flub in bold) following his Eugene OV he'd said Cal was also in the running but apparently they've been dropped down. Maybe it has something to do with his expressed desire to "play on a really good team"? If so, it might make drubbing the Trojans all the sweeter STOMP
It's nice to think that players actually, like, pay attention to which teams are doing well the last few years, isn't it? Ed O.
Educk's Chris Courtney spoke with Arik Armstead. Oregon's recruiting the 6'8", 280# beast as a DL, where most have him at OL. Imagine his frame with 20-30 pounds of mass after working with our trainers - who many players say are second to none. It's a nice read but here's the higlights: “I’m passionate about defense,” Armstead told Inna Lazarev of Scout.com. “I know I could play both in college, but on defense you get to make more plays and it’s more exciting. I’d rather sack somebody.” Clearly, Armstead has yet to decide where he will spend his college career and he doesn’t have to make a decision until National Letter of Intent Day in February 2012. Yet this weekend, he’ll be in the stands at Autzen Stadium watching the Ducks and Trojans play. Deja vu? http://oregon.scout.com/2/1129057.html
When the Ducks spank the Trojans this weekend I'll bet that's all we need to get Ellis and Shaq.... Ducks need to amp this up just for style points in my eyes! Major recruits watching this one!!! GO DUCKS!!!!!!!
4 star running back Byron Marshall commits to Oregon. http://oregon.scout.com/a.z?s=128&p=8&c=1&nid=4970965 http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Byron-Marshall-118317 Four-star running back Byron Marshall of San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian has confirmed his commitment to Oregon late last night. "Yes I committed to Oregon last night," Marshall Jr. said. His father spoke very highly of Oregon and his son's decision, despite his elder son being the starting running back at ASU. "Byron deserves his turn in the process," Marshall Sr. said. "He was in no rush and we just encouraged him to make his own decision. He went through his due process and has always been pretty high on Oregon. They showed a lot of interest in the early stages and he appreciated that." Marshall turned away offers from Arizona State, Notre Dame, Cal and USC in making his choice for Oregon. "That was the tough part," Marshall Sr. said. "He had to call a lot of good programs and let them know he wasn't coming. But it was the intangibles of Oregon more than the success I think. He really respects the coaches and how they handle things up there. He really likes coach (Gary) Campbell up there and I know that was a big part of it."
5'10" 195 and runs a 4.4 40. Sounds like he could be an excellent combination of speed and power. I like it!
Everyone is surprised by this news, it's so out of left field. Yesterday, I was reading reports that Kevirae Russell was getting a lot more interest in us so I thought we were backing off of Marshall. So this is great news as we needed a running back from this class. I don't know if this means we back off Russell as I think we're recruiting D.J. Foster as an athlete similar to DAT.
Good Lord at the embarrassment of Riches at Running Back next year. Barner, Thomas, Carson, Marshall (probably would RS I would think) Then hopefully add Tyner to next years class! I wish Seastrunk well anytime his good play wouldnt affect Oregon... but we are pretty decent without him!
What if James doesn't go pro? I agree that Marshall and maybe Foster should be redshirted, but ... who knows. Ed O.
lol I secretly hope the James decides to stay. But he wouldnt gain much out of it. I know the team is making a lot of Noise this year, but Next year could be when the team REALLY makes some noise. The Schedule is favorable again (i.e. no LSU type OOC game) Can you imagine this squad a year better with Thomas, James, Barner as seniors. And DAT, Carson, Lyerla, a year earlier? Not to mention the studs we have who are being Redshirted this year like Blackmon, Sumler, Kelley, French, Andre Y, Johnstone, I think Ebert is RS too. Reinforcements are coming!
I'm also kinda excited about Lake Koa-Ka'ai Dont let the 3* fool you. He had offers from some big time schools like, USC, Oklahoma, Stanford, Nebraska, and also schools like Washington, and Cal.
