    Alejandro Delmar of AS.com reports that Real Madrid of the Spanish ACB league is weighing the possibility of adding Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard and Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, among other stars, in light of this week's news that the NBA's labor impasse is headed to the courts. Delmar also writes that Real Madrid believes Aldridge is a better fit than Howard.

    Aldridge discussed the possibility of signing to play overseas all summer. This is now the fifth straight month Aldridge's name has been linked to overseas rumors.
    Former Blazers guards Rudy Fernandez and Sergio Rodriguez currently play for Real Madrid as does Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka. Fernandez signed to play with Real Madrid back in September.

    That would be a fun team to watch. I'd love to see LMA play for Real Madrid!

    I was struck by the word "AND" between Howard and LMA. With Rudy, LMA and Howard, Sergio could be as crappy as he wants to be and still get 20 assists a game.

    Can we get those games over here on ESPN? If they added stars like those to the euro teams there really would be a legit oversees alternative to the NBA.

    Kind of sucks for the Euro and lesser American players who will be out of work across the pond as more rich NBA players use those leagues for practice during lockout.

    I guess we're only supposed to feel sorry for NBA players who are out of work, though.

    just like under the old CBA and the recently proposed new one the top players will do fine, it's the average guy who will get hurt the most and that is the majority of players, no surpise here

    Big name NBA players coming to a team will increase that teams revenue, which can increase salaries and jobs for people employed at the arena or TV broadcast. The team wouldn't pay a new NBA player large dollars if they didn't expect a return on the investment.

    I wonder what happens when players aren't as good in the overseas leagues as they were here... especially if they make less money. It might be an argument (or at least evidence) that players are overpaid in the NBA.

    Arenas are small in Europe, and they play fewer games than in the NBA. I can't imagine that they will be able to dramatically increase their broadcast or sponsorship revenues within a matter of weeks or months merely by adding an NBA player or two (especially a player like Aldridge... do European fans know or care who he is?).

    International teams will either have to pay NBA players dramatically less or they will have to subsidize their expenses with their owners' checkbooks and take losses. The NBA owners have been doing the latter for years, so maybe it's other countries' turn now :)

    I'd definitely pay a few bucks to see Howard, LMA, and pretty much any warm bodies on a Euro team. If I squint hard enough I can pretend that's Oden instead of Dwight, and the hurt will be a little less for a few hours.

    Real Madrid would be like the Blazers without McMillan. They would play the way the Blazers should have been when Sergio and Rudy were here.
