Penn State has named David M. Joyner, a member of the university's board of trustees for more than a decade, as acting athletic director, effective immediately. The university made the announcement Wednesday, saying Mark Sherburne has returned to his duties as associate athletic director as the school grapples with a child sex-abuse scandal involving retired football assistant Jerry Sandusky.
