I'm getting to the party late but the Marshall news is huge. Great get by the coaching staff. They definitely have a "type" of player that they're going after and it seems like RBs are looking at our offense and seeing what LMJ, DAT, and Barner are doing. If I was a fast RB I would want to play for Oregon too.

On the rivals board the insiders relayed that they are sure he's not announcing tomorrow. Foster is being recruited as a WR not a RB at Oregon, so them landing yet another talented RB shouldn't have much bearing... plus he's said he's already made his choice he just doesn't want to overshadow his HS team while the playoffs are going on with the announcement.

I'm expecting his eventual announcement will make most here happy

just separating the wheat from the chafe. Does a recruit prioritize being on their cell poolside in January or playing in a BCS game?

there really isn't a position where the Ducks are thin and lacking young talent. The DLine only graduates two DEs (Hanna & Turner) this year and three from the OLine (Golpashin, Weems, Asper). Last year they signed 3 DLineman who are all redshirting and 5 OLineman and only one of those guys is playing (Fisher). I expect they'll sign another couple of guys, but the cupboard is already pretty stocked

Ya, I agree, but it needs to be stocked with bigger uglies on the lines. I think that is what is separating us from elite status

I'd say a national championship game that came down to the last drive and a straight up domination of the Pac-12 for the last 3 years would be considered elite.

Is LSU's DLine elite? Oregon's DLine is bigger then the Tiger's and their OLine averages 6'5 302 lbs. It would be fair to say that their lines need to be better talent wise for Oregon to acheive elite status as that would be a judgement call, but the raw numbers say that they're plenty big enough.

the thing that occurs to me is that a kid can claim a spot in the recruiting class but still be able to a big announcement at the Army game or some public affair. Of course nothing really counts until they sign in February

gotcha. Makes sense. I guess it could be either a benefit for a kid who doesnt want the attention... or a benefit for a kid who really wants the attention.

So I'm hearing that De'Forest Buckner wont be making the trip to the USC game because his team is deep in the playoffs, but he wants to reschedule for the Oregon State game.

Apparently Kwon Alexander wont be visiting because the Oregon coaching staff told them they are full at LB. That is interesting as I would think Kwon Alexander is a must take.

And finally Uzoma had to reschedule for the Oregon State game, but it appears we have a new visitor. 6-3 300 pound OG Shane Brostek from Hawaii. He's a son of a former Husky and doesn't allow any media to talk to him.

interesting on Kwon if true. I'd obviously want him out for a visit even if full. But in all honesty I've considered him a longshot anyway.

Interesting that the Ducks have reportedly been slowing their pursuit of top prospects. There's a difference, of course, between choosing not to recruit them and turning them down if they really want to become Ducks.

Choosing not to recruit has a few clear advantages, I'd think:

    1. It reinforces the program's commitment to those in the program and that have already committed to it.
    2. It lets Oregon focus its resources on the key remaining recruits.
    3. It creates a perception of scarcity that might push fence-sitters to Oregon's side ("I better get while the getting's good!") or even prove to be an allure to guys that weren't that interested before ("Damn... they're already filling up? I gotta look into this.")

Clearly I'm no expert in the actual on-the-ground recruitment. And the reports could be inaccurate, or the kids might not be good fits for a variety of reasons. But I could see how becoming less available--for whatever reason--can have some benefits.

Wanted to thank everyone for keeping this thread going. Don't have the time I used to and love catching up on recruiting news. There's a lot of value here.

Who is the Michigan verbal who is coming out for the game today??

Pharaoah Brown. He's 6-6 230 pounds and looks like he'll either play TE or DE in college.
