Stanford back up to 4th in AP, 5th in USA Today. USC 10th in AP. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/usatpoll.htm http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings/_/poll/1
Re: Ducks at 9th in AP & USA Today I get it and all, but this is exactly why polls are stupid. Oregon would destroy Houston, and probably beat Boise Community College as well. But oh well

USC is 10th in the AP but not ranked in the USA Today poll. That's bullshit! They should without a doubt be in the top 15. How bad does it hurt the Ducks in the BCS rankings that USC isnt ranked in the USA Today poll? USC's post season ban etc. shouldnt hurt the other Pac 12 schools, but it obviously does because it hurts their rankings.
No, Oregon and Stanford are not hurt by USC's probation. USC's rating only impacts Oregon's computer rankings, but it is their ranking within that specific computer ranking that is relevant, not their overall BCS rating. So, unless one or more of the computer polls exclude USC, there is no impact on Oregon's BCS ranking.
I dont understand. How could USC not being in the BCS and AP rankings not hurt the Ducks rankings? Is USC allowed to be in the BCS rankings? I think its obvious that they arent getting votes in various polls because the voters know they cant be in a bowl game so they think its a waste to put USC in the rankings.
Because strength of schedule only influences the computer rankings, and USC's probation has no impact on those. The computer rankings aren't based on the human polls; they're independent of them. The computers impact the BCS, not the other way around. USC being on probation doesn't change how the voters rank Oregon, and it doesn't change how the computers rank Oregon.
Arkansas or LSU loses next week, Tech will lose to Clemson and the Sooners will lose to OSU... I expect the Ducks to be sitting at 7 come bowl time!
BTW- Don't count UVA taking out the Hokies on civil war in C'ville! Virginia is playing some good ball right now!
