Romney runs circles around Newt Gingrich intellectually. I know people who worked with him at Bain Capital (a company of really smart people), and they remain in awe of his ability to cut to the core of an issue. Investment and acquisition requires the ability to ask the right questions; Romney has that ability.

I agree, I think people are mistaking knowledge (which Gingrich does have) for intelligence (which Gingrich also has, but not in particularly vast quantities). What Gingrich has none of is wisdom.

    Interesting, maxie.

I'm ready for the debates to be whittled down to no more than, say, three potential candidates. At this point, this band of brothers and one sister game show is a little too watered down for my liking.

Actually, that very well might be a rather contrasting (therefore, enlightening/revealing) group to throw into the proverbial ring.

If you want contrasting (therefore, enlightening/revealing/entertaining) you have to go with Paul, Gingrich & Kane.

By virtue of poll standings, though, you'd necessarily have to include Romney. Top four wouldn't be all bad, I suppose.

    HAHAHAHAHHA!

Oh, that's a good one! Mitt and his flop sweat, evasive answers, and waffling are a sure sign of a Brilliant Mind!

The fact is, with the economy in its current state and unemployment showing no signs of decreasing significantly, any candidate running against Obama becomes electable. He has nothing to run on - only an opponent to run against. This is still a center-right country. In 2008, Obama galvanized turnout from the left, while the right was subdued - unhappy with its candidate and with its outgoing President. This time it will be the left that is disillusioned, while the right will do anything for change.

Newt is the biggest fraud ever. This guy is a less charming version of Romney and a total flip flopper.

I would not vote for Newt over Mitt.

Newt's taking a big lead. The interesting thing is, he's providing actual ideas. Also, I think he's appealing to the moderates...which, is a good thing. With such polarization in Washington, we need someone who will work towards bringing folks together....not continuing to tear them apart as out current leader appears to be doing.

Newt's 68 years old. When, in those 68 years, has he ever brought folks together? Are you aware of Newt's record? Are you aware of his personality?

    Serious, Newt as a consensus-builder, a peacemaker?

He's a lot of things, but he's not that.

I'm learning more and more about Newt all the time. Still haven't totally made up my mind, but I'm listening...
