One team leader talks in generalities that are so open, a sixth grader could draw the same conclusions. In fact, I think I heard the same talk playing flag football in the fourth grade. The other leader talks about specifics, names strengths of players and positions and briefly discusses a plan to deal with those strengths. One fumbles over his words, looks down and I don't want to say comes across as incompetent, but he seems to lack confidence in himself. The other leader makes eye contract, articulates and just knows his stuff and talks a coaches game.

I've always like Riley but something really seems to be missing. Maybe it's time for Riley to take on an OC and Head of Recruiting Role. I dunno...

Maybe he is not the best at public relation skills or an expressional coach when a camera is placed in front of him. Maybe he didn't have his coffee yet. Coaches and people react different in person than on the field. Ever thought of that Targus? Stop being so naive and so conceded about someone.

Chip kelly wasn't to detailed on this interview really. Did he express how his team was going to be different with specific strategies, etc? Some coaches have moments when they don't want to say much.

LOL, Ok. I'm confused. I believe you mean conceited, because conceded is something else entirely. Regardless, it's difficult to be conceited or conceded about someone else when the adjective expresses a value upon oneself, not others.

If you read and posted here regularly, you'd be aware I am not always a fan of Kelly either. I am not shy about recognizing Riley's strengths, either. But, it's no secret that season tix holders, donors and fans like me are questioning if Riley has the same insight and fire that other conference coaches share. He's a "heckavu" nice guy -- but, is that enough? Every week it's, 'we shoulda done this...we shoulda done that. we didnt' do this and we didn't do that.' Every friggen week. Enough already. He's the coach and responsible for getting done on gameday, not stating what every fan knows - what was wrong with execution and gameplan.
The guy has been at OSU a long time now and hasn't come close to duplicating Erickson's success. Ever wonder why?
