LOSERS: The Portland Trail Blazers The Blazers carry high salaries with a mediocre team, and we know for certain the GM has not spent the summer executing a new master plan. We know this because there is no GM! But common sense would suggest this team has to win a lot or change a lot, and one of their favorite tools of the past -- outspending rivals -- has grown trickier.
Joel was horrible last year and had another season ending injury. Maybe we sign him for the 14th roster spot near the minimum, but he will never be the player he once was and honestly at his peak he was best coming off the bench. Throwing the midlevel at him would be a horrible mistake when we have so many other holes on this roster. We can get similar production from some scrub like Jeff Pendegraph who may not even make an NBA roster.
Can Felton do a one week cameo on the biggest loser? Start him tomorrow maybe he could drop down to 240 when training camp starts.
I haven't heard anything about amnesty provisions. If there is one, sadly you have to consider whether to use it on Roy or not.
It sounds like the luxury tax will be incredibly punitive. Roy's got 4 years, $70 mill left. I would hate to see him go, but if he is only going to be a 10-12 minute per game player or if it's is true that PA wants to sell then I think you will see him cut if there is an amnesty provision. On the plus side, without Roy's contract on the books, the payroll is in pretty good shape.
We'd have one of the best cap situations in the league if we could cut Roy. LaMarcus and Wes are the only guys signed beyond this season.
1. Fire Nate and bring in a real coach 2. HIRE A FUCKING GM 3. Amnesty Roy 4. Sign some extra large black men 5. Suck Greg Oden's monster cock so he might re-sign with us. If that doesn't work send him to Indiana for Hibbert and Psycho T 6. Sell team to Larry Ellison
Bringing in a new coach for a lockout shortened season is not the best idea, unless you want to try to win the NBA lottery, then it is a fantastic idea.
When do players have to report for training camp? How many more games with Nancy does Batum have? (Will he play today? I guess we'll see...)
Until we see the details of the CBA, I am reserving my thoughts with the exception of balancing the roster by finding quality minutes from additional bigs if our current ones cannot stay healthy and keeping Wallace from killing himself by keeping his play at the 4 limited.
