If I was Paul Allen and survived cancer twice, I would start thinking about what is best for the future of the teams I own. Because I won't be around forever. I would take my time and sell them in 2-3 years to owners who will keep the respective teams where they are. (In Seattle and Portland) I would fight to make sure the new CBA in the NBA benefits small market teams since the new owner will not have my kind of money. Isn't this what he is doing? I think some of you are being unfair. He might not be the best owner, but he has not tried to screw us over like a lot of you suggest.
Good perspective, thanks for sharing. People are projecting their frustrations over our GM trouble into other areas of his ownership. This includes the absurd idea that Allen is looking for a reason to move the team to Seattle, to a tadium that doesn't exist, and likely won't for many years.
At some point, ("the economic model is broken....."), I think Paul realized he was, fiscally speaking, a pretty crappy owner and pretty much turned the entire team operations over to the Vulcans. To me - good, bad, or otherwise - that was the critical turning point.
