Who berated the front-office here? PapaG said that the "Blazers had signaled that they weren't sold on Oden's future as a Blazer." The facts are that they didn't extend him. Is it such a leap of logic to surmise that they aren't "all-in" with Oden? Is drawing that conclusion based on evidence really "berating" Paul Allen, Bert Kolde, Larry Miller, et al.?

He's the dour-looking chap in this photo who appeared to be sucking down Rum and Cokes on 10/28/11.

Could you imagine Oden the dentist trying to fiddle with the little mirrors and drills and such? No thanks.

Forget the tools. I'm trying to figure out how Greg could get those banana fingers inside of the average person's mouth.

    perfect timing papa

Oden has gone through the media ringer, slandered and hated on to the max. Of-course, the Blazers MGMT are going to do whatever they can to protect him, because in their Eyes, believe it or not, he's still a long term solution. I don't see much of an conspiracy, nor do I think that's the whole premise...

IMHO, the Blazers and Conley/G.O. have an understanding, Oden will be payed based on what they know he can healthily contribute on the court, largely YTD. Both sides agree its best to wait and see with the best available information, what his outlook will be. After all they've been through together, they owe it to each other.

I have some advice Hailblazers. Don't ever go into criminology or become a private investigator.

    Sure thing.

Since were advising each other. Don't go into psychology or become a psychiatrist, your outlook is pretty dim on life.

Oh please. Oden has been treated better in Portland than he would be in a major media market. I also find it funny that you're so sure that Oden is a 'long-term' solution, when the reality shows that the Blazers didn't consider him 'long-term' enough to extend him in summer 2010.

That's just naive and wishful thinking right there, IMO. Why on earth would Conley agree to any scenario that doesn't protect his client's long-term financial status? The Blazers didn't think enough of Oden to make him a decent offer, IMO. That seems more likely than some handshake agreement that puts all of the risk on Oden, and none on the Blazers.

Dude, Oden is our best chance at a deep run in the playoffs. It might be sad, but it's damn true! I'm riding that bandwagon until the wheels fall off and they can't be put back on again!

An injured Oden who eats up cap space and never gets on the court may hinder the franchise for years. I keep reading about cutting Roy and resigning Oden with the savings, but at this point, the risk of a long-term contract worth anything higher than the MLE seems foolish to me.

Is he even going to play at all this season?

That's my position too. Except, I think Oden is our only chance.

I look at that pic and I think that is nice that Oden is taking a pic with a kid, but I guess it has to be something bad to make it so he's drinking some hard liquor and messing up. Sheesh.

Dude, look at those eyes! Those aren't kids - they are soul-sucking-hell-minions! Oden sold his soul and/or knees to the devil!

Found this -- This was taken this summer (July) and he's walking without his usual limp:
