*4 DT Faith Ekakitie eliminated the Ducks from consideration today... guess I was reading the wrong tea leaves STOMP
Scout is owned and operated by UW grads so there is the suspicion on bias. Rivals is owned by non-Ducks or Huskys. If you look at how the two sites rate the classes of Washington and their arch rival Oregon, this 2012 class scout has Ore/Washington rated the 26th/37th classes in the country. Rivals has the same two classes rated 21 and 47. For last years class Scout had Ore/UW at #14 & #21 while rivals had them pegged #9 & #23. In 2010 Scout had Oregon rated with the #13 class and Wash with the #11 while rivals had them at #13 & #28. The trend isn't too tough to pick up on. Besides not having the suspicion on bias against my rooting interest, rivals is more stingy in handing out it's ratings then scout. They anoint less 5 & 4 star kids, so their designation means more. Good info and I appreciate it. Here's a good read on the differences between Rivals, Scout and ESPN - specifically when and how they rate players. I understand scout is suspect, simply based on where they graduated, but most likely, everyone has some kind of bias and alliance to somewhere. What I don't get is dismissing all things scout simply because of claims they jack up certain teams rankings. All ratings are subjective, slightly different and can be a general guideline for a recruit or class - but not scientific and often none are accurate. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/117345-recruiting-for-beginners-part-i-how-are-players-ranked
Interesting read. Note, though, that it is almost three years old (January, 2009). I'm not sure if ESPN does more of their own analysis or not now. Ed O.
Rumors circulating that Oregon just got a commitment today. Apparently it's a 4 star but they haven't divulged who it is yet. People on DT are guessing DJ Foster or Pharoah Browne
Actually everyone is saying Kevon Seymour. That would be huge. The only info I'm getting is he's a recruit that doesn't give many interviews, and if that's so that fits Seymour based on what I've heard. I'll let everyone know right when I find out.
I love you too Da_O he's been rumored to be a silent/heavy lean for a couple weeks now which would explain why Oregon cut bait on a couple high profile DBs recently. Dude's highlights are really worth a look. From what I hear that will push both of the twins to CB. STOMP
From today's ESPN Recruiting Blog: You gotta think that he's not gonna be encouraged by UCLA's coaching change... Ed O.
In a blog entry today, ESPN reported that Oregon told Randy Uzoma that they didn't want him to come out and visit (after postponing twice). His coach said, "Oregon recently filled up." It also listed him as a visit this past weekend, so... it's not entirely clear if he went or not. Ed O.
In a blog entry yesterday, ESPN reported that Jeremy Castro had this to say about his visit to UW for the Apple Cup: Ed O.
The ASU weekend turned out to be a pretty big success. Jeremy Castro, Bryce Cotrell and now Reggie Daniels have all committed. That leaves Shaq Thompson, DJ Foster and Ellis McCarthy as the three that haven't. It looks like Shaq's shipped has sailed, but neither McCarthy nor Foster have taken an official visit since that Oct 24 weekend... Ed O.
true but... even prior to that, if a recruit is seriously considering UCLA they are probably looking at things outside the football program. Maybe he's a surfer STOMP
Seymour has been to Oregon twice... I guess maybe he needs convincing? How common is it for a recruit to use two of his OVs with one school? Ed O.
Not sure. He did take two OV's to Washington as well. He said this after his last visit here. Some people consider him a strong USC lean even though he says he's considering all of his finalists
