I don't understand why Rondo is even available. I think their CP3 dreams are unrealistic as I highly doubt he'd sign a long-term extension there -- average age of their core is 35.

Last season Rondo was a top-3 PG. His defense and courtvision is elite, his scoring is not (hence the rather pedestrian 17PER).

If he's stubborn with his teammates, as rumored, that adds to his appeal. He doesn't take shit from the biggest asshole on planet earth: KG. Hey Boston, you can have anything outside of LaMarcus! :devilwink:

Doesn't seem like they have the pieces to make an offer. Stranger things have happened, I suppose.

What does Boston want? Has that been said anywhere?

    KP probably sending out feelers.

It's like us in ~07-08 when we were involved in pretty much every rumor.

more scoring, I thought I read, which doesn't make much sense then, with Indy, unless it was Granger.

Indy could give Boston 3 or 4 young players who would give them a deep and young bench, plus a starting PG that gave the Bulls fits in the playoffs.

When the old players retire or decline further, Boston has replacement players ready to go.

Rondo is worth, as DC pointed out, 3 or 4 good players. It's a good idea to see what you can get for a player of his caliber.

According to SI, Ainge is looking for a 3 team deal. Boston gets CP3, the 3rd team gets Rondo, NO gets young players, draft picks, and cap relief.

The fact that NO doesn't want Rondo in the deal makes you wonder.

I think NO wanted more than just Rondo. Also, Paul won't up with Boston

I'm certain he'll end up with the Clippers.

The Knicks don't have the cap or the assets to even come close.

What does Ainge want? Does he want a player that can get one last finals run out of the "big 3"? That sounds stupid, because they're pretty much broken down. Or does he want a young star to build round? Well, why not Rondo? Perhaps Rondo's made it clear he's not cut out for rebuilding.

Rondo for Westbrook makes sense to me. And Perk would be very happy.

My thought is that Ainge thinks that Rondo's value is at its highest because he played next to so many HOFers and he wants to cash out before his weaknesses are exposed. As we found with Andre, it is hard to hide a PG that cannot shoot.

A Boston/NO/Indy trade would work well. Even if Paul does not sign an extension, he gives them the best shot at winning a title this year. Rondo would be an upgrade over Collison. Indy has Collison, cap relief, and other younger assets to send to NO.

My thinking is that the league wants to load NO with cheap young talent in order to make it attractive for sale. Signing David West to a bloated contract and then losing Paul next year is not going to be good. Here is what the deal would roughly look like:

Boston : Chris Paul, McRoberts or Psyco T
    Indy : S&T West, Rondo
NO : Collison, Granger, B. Rush

Hansbrough in Boston could become a legend of almost Tebow-esque proportions.

Rondo is Boston's best player and a top 5 PG. They should build around him IMO.

Rondo is horribly overrated. He's a system point guard. Put him on a shitty team, no one would talk about him. Obviously he's a good player but no where near the star he's made out to be.

Rondo sure knows how to distribute the ball, and he may be the best defensive PG in the league. His shooting is suspect, but he can score inside. I don't think he's overrated, but it really helps to have a Pierce type to share the playmaking duties.

Speaking of young Point-Guards that are good defenders/decision makers but not able to shoot... Is Ricky Rubio coming this year?
