I would love to see him gain some mass this off-season. I'm curious how he looks. He has that great "Hustle defender" type I love watching. Obviously not "The Answer"; but maybe a nice role player off the bench?

    I'm curious, but I'm not bi-curious.

    Oh who am I kidding?

Even though he's already 26-ish year old second year player, I like him as prospect.

He's 7'0" and jumps out of the gym. His defense awareness is solid and he's also chippy.

I see a little of Cliff Robinson in this cat. Of course, not scoring, but the blocking and hustle defense. And obviously this kid isn't demanding big money.

For me it would be, "I'm curious to see if Chris Johnson can show himself to be a legitimate NBA player (PER >12, passable defense) for 10-15 mpg over a full season."

It would be nice if Chris Johnson was capable of filling in at all. But he's pretty low on my "curious" list. That has the following items on it:
    1. Batum's improved confidence and game.
    2. Elliot Williams.
    3. Nolan Smith (can he play PG? At all?)
    4. The sheer girth of Raymond Felton.
    5. Possibly improved handle of Wesley Matthews.
    6. Roy's knees - those of a 70 year old or a comparatively sprightly 50 year old?
    7. Luke Babbitt - does he in fact still exist?

    Don't we already have Johnson?
I've got no problem with offering both Prz and Jeff Pendergraph minimum contracts. I'm not interested in either Nene (not happening and he'll be overpaid wherever he ends up) or Landry (has anyone seen him lately? He was SHIT for Sacramento). I just want to keep a spot warm for Freeland in '12.

I don't have anything against Chris Johnson, and I thought he was rangy and active on defense last year, but if he does nothing more than provide 10 minutes of adequate fill-in time at the 4 and the 5 then I'd call it a "win" and move on. That's the full extent of my curiosity.

But really, this thread is so "Portland" -- elevating the fringe roster guy.

At 27 he aint gonna get any bigger, he's probably always going to be a borderline NBA player and I don't really see how anybody can get "excited" about him.

I think CJ is going to be a good role player for us.

Love his attitude, kind of a chip on his shoulder and he is a very mobile big guy.

That's about how I see it. No offense, but good defense.

We wouldn't have won Game 3 without him. I wouldn't exactly call him "fringe." He should be a big part of what we do this season.
