First of all, CB4, you honestly have got to have something against Allen Iverson, because anybody who watches and knows basketball knows how much he cares about winning. Yeah, he has a bad attitude... yeah, he HAD bad practice habits... but tell me one player who has never done anything wrong in their career? There was no bad comments about Iverson last season, excluding when he and Webber missed fan appreciation night, which is a whole different story because there was miscommunication between the players and the coaching staff/front office.AI doesn't care about winning? Yeah... that's why he's been in Philadelphia his whole career, and has NEVER demanded a trade, right? There are only a handful of players in the league who would say they would rather stick through the tough times in their current situations rather than be traded and try to win a ring somewhere else. That is LOYALTY.You can dislike Iverson all you want, but saying he doesn't care about winning is just flat out ignorant.Everybody, just give it up... AI haters are exactly the same as Kobe haters... no matter what they do, they will be hated. sh*t, Iverson could go out and lead the league in assists but people would still call him a ballhog.People need to stop relying on the stereotypes surrounding his game from his earlier years, and actually open their eyes and watch him play and pay attention to the strengths and weaknesses of the team he plays on. If he doesn't score 33 a night and dish out 7-8 assists a night, the Sixers finish with a worse record than this year. Oh yeah, by the way, why did the Sixers lose so much this year? Was it because of their offensive problems? Um, no! Their offense was one of the best in the league... their problem was TEAM DEFENSE... so, saying that Iverson's selfishness held the Sixers back last year, or even implying that, is simply ludicrous.

And the fact that he got so many assists last year despite Webber shooting 40% is absolutely amazing. If Webber had any jumper whatsoever, AI would have averaged 10 assists a night. If anything held back Iguodala last season (other than his passive play), it was Webber's presence. Iverson had to keep Webber happy and keep feeding him at the elbow for jumpers everybody knew he wouldn't make.

Back to topic guys.....I dont know why Atlanta would offer that to the Sixers. If I was the Philly gm, i would have jumped on that trade as soon as i was notified. Atlanta isnt going to win with AI on that team anyways so i would just wait it out for the future. Josh Smith is going to be a beast in this league and so is Marvin so this is extremely stupid for Atlanta
I thought the Hawks weren't even allowed to trade anybody because of that ruling by an Atlanta judge in the Belkin lawsuit against the other owners...The ruling said that the other owners and the Hawks could not sign any free agents to anything longer than a one year deal, and were prohibited from trading any current players under contract.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>ESPN - The Maryland judge who last month ruled Steve Belkin is entitled to buy the Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Thrashers from his former co-owners added a new twist to the ongoing feud Thursday, the Associated Press is reporting.Montgomery County (Md.) Circuit Court Judge Eric Johnson ruled the current ownership and management team should retain control while the appeals are heard. But the good news for the Atlanta Spirit group also included the judge's stipulation that will prevent the Hawks or Thrashers from signing a free agent to a contract longer than one year. The stipulation doesn't relate to negotiations with draft picks for either team. The ruling also doesn't affect any negotiations already under way, including the Hawks' agreement to sign free agent point guard Speedy Claxton. The deal, believed to be for four years, cannot be officially announced before Wednesday. The judge ordered that the other owners can't "initiate the purchase, sale, trade or negotiation of any NBA or NHL player contract ... excluding contracts involving present or future draft picks and contracts for any other player with a contract duration of one year or less."The ruling would appear to put the Hawks and Thrashers at a significant competitive disadvantage in their ability to attract free agents.</div>Source: ESPN
That's horrible. There is no way a team should be put into a disadvantage like that, especially during their rebuilding.

It would be pretty ridiculous if you had to pay out contracts for players you didn't make moves to obtain (unless of course you bought the team from someone else, which apparently is not the case in this, uh, case).

Isn't Ai the same guy who ridiculed practice?Ai is the part of the problem and dont' kid your self, he only plays good defense in crunch time. The sixers suck at d and his defense is also mediocre. Therefore, Ai does have a fault in why the sixers lose.

He doesnt give into the team game. Maybe he wants to win, but he sure likes personal success more then because he doesnt play the team game at all anymore. He ball hogs, shoots too much, and doesnt play defense.</div> Well isn't that a good description of half the NBA?
It shouldnt be for a starting pg..The guy that runs the offense should have to create for others, not shoot 20-25 times a game and dribble way too much..
