good point. I had assumed that since I didn't see it, it wasn't in there...when in reality it might mean that nothing changed.
I remember before the draft reading an ESPN articles that talked about how Oden walked "like an awkward old man" and Durant had a fluid athletic walk that looked like someone who was only 6 feet tall. I can't remember who it was it may have even been Bill Simmons. Even with Oden's injury history, which was worse than Durant but nothing dooming, every GM and analyst projected Oden as a better #1 pick. The scans on his knees were as Pritchard said "Pristine."
It was Bill Simmons. He said Oden, 19 at the time, walked like a 50 year old man. He always had a limp but the limp in this video is A LOT worse than it's ever been.
I think the concept is actually interesting (especially since we could easily trade Roy's contract to another team for some disgruntled player to then use the amnesty on him). But I'm pretty sure the amnesty is only for contracts that existed as of the CBA being signed. Since Oden's contract would be a new contract under this CBA, it would be exempt from this CBA's amnesty clause.
It's more restrictive than that. The amnesty only applies to pre-CBA contracts and players on your roster prior to the new CBA, so forget about trading then waiving.
I'm scared for Greg. Watching his gruesome injury live was a little traumatizing. He went to defend the rim and *boom* his knee literally explodes into many pieces of bone. His limp is worrisome. No pro-athlete should be walking like that.
Going to be tough, playing 3-on-5. Compare Camby's numbers from last season to the season before. The guy has hit the age where players just fall off a cliff. Felton's only real pro success has come in an up-tempo offense. Giving him to Nate is just cruel.....and that was before he became the poster boy for players who sat on their butts and got out-of-shape during the lock-out! Then take a gander at the bench. I appreciate your never-say-die attitude - but without an all-star caliber Roy, this is a .500 team.
I challenge anybody to watch Oden walk, and then say they honestly believe he is going to contribute this season....or ever.
In the future, there may be threads titled, "Why did we extend Oden?" He may be the Darius Miles of the future, when they look back at the past, which is the present.
