The Raps are apparently in the hunt for a centre, with three free agents: Nene, Tyson Chandler, and Marc Gasol, all in the crosshairs.

Sounds to me like Bargnani is staying put if we're looking for some help for him.

Gasol is an RFA and the Grizz have indicated they'll match.

Chandler is weighing his options but it isn't like Cuban hasn't overspent on aging centres before.

As for Nene--he's decided to enter the market and we'd presumably use our amnesty clause to clear space to try and sign someone of his contract size.

Will any of those players want to come here? How much capspace do we have anyways?

^Dear God! That would be a sad day if that went down.

Amnesty Calderon no doubt, but sign Chandler for 2 years maybe, 7 MILL. He's not worth more than that.

Also, Bargs needs to F off already, get traded. Ed Davis should be our future 4, Vally our C...WE NEED A PG!

    *cough* Brandon Jennings *cough*

*cough* good friends with DeMar, played together for many years and even during the lock-out *cough*

Chuck Hayes is a good call. No thanks to any of these other guys who will be crazy expensive and hurt tank nation.

Chandler is 29 and injury prone. No way we should offer him 5 years.

Jennings is flashy but not overly effective. He shot 37% and 39% in his first two years in the league averaging only 5 assists as a starting point guard playing 30+ minutes. We already have a scoring minded point guard in Bayless we should be looking for someone who's pass first and makes others better.

Chandler is going to be effective when he's old. Look at Camby. Chandler is really really tall when you see him on the Cory next to the other players. You can't teach height.

camby is a good comparison but a far better rebounder and shot blocker. however, chandler is less injury and maybe a better post defender.i would totally give him 5 years and 50 million. for those who dispute this- look at it this way: the mavericks without chandler were discarded in the first round, with him they won the championship.

Grange has thrown cold water on these rumours, claiming the Raps aren't interested in a big, long-term investment.

Someone like Aaron Gray seems more likely.

colangelo has reportedly said there is zero chance they sign chandler. i forgot the raps only throw outlandish money at slow white guys e.g. caledron, hedo, kapano, bargnani and kleiza. thats $200 million to dudes who cant play

I dunno... if we aren't looking to fix our weaknesses, we're basically forfeiting the season, cause little changes here and there are going to put us deep in the lottery again.

Our C is playing over seas for one more year, this year we make due with Amir - Davis combo, with HOPEFULLY a trading of Il Mago...unless he some how has stepped up his defenece and rebounding.

I saw that as well...if Jonas has enough money to pay his part of the contract; the Raptors are in business.

However, I doubt he can right now.

The argument can be made either way. Why would he pay $1-million+ of his own money to come over for a short season when it looks like BC is trying to tank, anyway?
