How exactly do we land Nene? What are we going to need to give up for him? If they would do Wallace then sure, but Nene is already 29 and a cancer survivor. Is he going to get the Blazers over the top in the next 2-4 years of what's left of his prime? If the answer is no, then move along
That's a shitty philosophy, so I hope it's not true. If they think they can win now, then add anybody you can. If they believe that they don't have the pieces on the roster to win now then adding players like Nene is kinda foolish, no?
