You beat me to the post.

Not sure how I would feel about him on USC....kinda a sour taste. Strongly stand behind Chip who has made a bold statement, yet again, it doesn't matter who you are - when you mess up on your second/third chance and potentially lie about it -- you're done. Doesn't matter if you're QB #1 on the Conf Champ team, or one of the best defenders in the nation.

I wish Mr. Harris nothing but the best. He's a dynamic talent with passion and fire. Like all of us, he's got some character flaws to work on and some maturity issues.

Best of luck, Cliff. Thanks for the good times.

If he transfers to USC, Chip would have to waive the 2-year wait that all intra-conference players have when they transfer between two Pac-12 schools.

Good luck of that happening. He's not going to USC.

I hope that Chip wouldn't waive it. I am all for giving players opportunities to excel elsewhere--they are very young men, after all, and not professionals (who get paid to rot on the end of the bench, at least)--but a player repeatedly getting in trouble and then being handed over to a conference rival? I hope not.

Either with a waiver or Harris still has his redshirt season and could return with another FBS school as a senior, or go straight to a non-FBS school... or he could declare for the draft this year, right?

He's draft-eligible. I think we've seen the last of Cliff Harris in college football.

    You've never signed a non-compete clause?

The purpose of the non-compete clauses that I've been asked to sign have to do with client relationships.

I certainly never had to sign one when I was going to school!

    I understand.

That said, I view college football as more of a business, than not. Therein, I also view USC as "direct competition".

Looks like Thanksgiving weekend was the last straw for Cliff:

Cliff Harris was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana in his hometown of Fresno on Nov. 25, the Fresno Bee reports.

    Knucklehead.

I posted that I did NOT want Chip to waive the two years. USC is direct competition, but if a player makes a good-faith effort to fit into the program and simply can't get onto the field, there's a lot more reason to let him go somewhere else without penalty (even USC) than there is with a player like Harris who got into trouble repeatedly.

 Sorry about that. I read your OP wrong.

As Gilda once said......"never mind." :)

Now I hope Cliff does go to USC and Chip grants a waiver. Cliff will be a distraction for the entire team.
