It's not a rebuild, it's a retool. You keep slid pieces and then add through the draft. You just have to have a scouting team that is rock solid and a GM not hell bent on fucking you in the draft right after you fired him. Like KP id with Babbitt

So basically you want LMA playing center. Because if you add Hayes or Landry for a 30 million full MLE then they would need to get 25-30 minutes. I don't have a problem with that because I like small ball. But if you want to go small I would rather give minutes to Wallace at the 4 and get another back up at the 5. Is it still a 15 man roster? Seems like they can add another body.

You also need minutes next year for Freedland. And he won't sign if there are no minutes. Is he the key to our future? No. is Hayes or Landry? No

Nope. What didn't work last year was not having Oden.

Ok so the key to a re-tool is you need to draft much better then other NBA franchises.... that is far easier said then done. All franchises have big scouting departments and are spending millions trying to project the best players. It's a very imperfect unpredictable science. Even the great KP during his glory years still drafted duds like Sergio, Rudy, Koponen, Pendegraph, Clavair, Bayless. We now know he blew the Durant draft, the most important pick we've had in 30 years. Batum is the only good non-lotto pick KP made while he had the luxury of blowing around $15 million of SPAM money on picks.

It's easy to sit here and bitch at Blazer management and say they should rebuild through the draft, but actually executing a plan like that is very difficult.

That is weak. You honestly think KP pulled Babbitt out of his ass on draft day and then talked everyone into acquiring him after he was fired? Our management team may not be the best, but the way some of you guys embellish things are over the top.

Exactly! We can make through 4 weeks of the season with Camby, Johnson, Prz, and Aldridge manning the 5 no problem.

Chuck Hayes would have instantly improved this team on the defensive end. Now that we're keeping Roy we can only offer the mini mid-level. I think the best way to bring in an impact bigman is through trade, not free agency.

I just don't know how much Przy could help. He looked pretty bad after his injury. Maybe it was rust? For his sake I hope it was.

    Treaty of Batum...

My gut instict is Oden walks after this year regardless. He's been a huge bust in Portland, he's a big city guy, and Miami and rings will appeal to a 25 year old with a favorable tax advantage. So I don't think PA thinks Oden will be here in a year either. The other thought is Oden breaks something putting on his shorts and it's a complete write off with this years contract only having to paid out. As for Roy, they'll keep him till season ticket renewals hit, then he's gone. Short season ya know... Don't want the stupid fans thinking we're dropping their hero before they pay top dollar for season tickets once again.

Meanwhile all the real basketball fans of Ptown will watch a product meant to be sold unfold for a half season.

    Oh well!!!

He spends his summers in LA and has been to Miami for extended stays... He wants the life...

I don't think people think he's a John Stockton type of guy! Those who have seen him in the clubs at least! HAHAHAHA!

It's kind of funny, that was one of the big concerns with choosing Durant over Oden -- that he was "big time" and would only want to stay in a big flashy market -- It's weird how things can turn out.

If he wants 'the life' he ought to earn it first.
