    maybe but i remember he had to play like all five positions himself because he had a high school for a supporting cast which Roy does not!

    LMAO! I guess you weren't watching them were you? Pierce had two allstars in that ear of fortitude. Roy had 0. Oh and P.S. Roy with 0 allstars made it to the playoffs all but 1 year. Pierce needed two allstars to even make the playoffs.

    I notice you're in a picute with Andre? How ya think Felton will do when he asked to walk up the court to support Roy? It might have made more sense to keep Dre for this type of play. We all know B Roys not leading any fast breaks!

    I doubt anyone in this forum with disagree that Roy will most likely be amnesty'd this summer. The trick is now we won't have to sign anyone to a Max MLE; which means we will be well under cap to sign a free-agent at a better caliber than Landry. Sorry if the sky is falling for you. I take this as more of management taking a chance and not cashing in on Oden. If Oden can play and shows promise that his injuries are behind him; we can use the Amnesty money for him. In the end, you want action now and I want management to think this through. Thank God they aren't these wannabe GM's like myself and pretty much everyone else in this forum think they are.

    That might've also been because he played 300 more minutes last year than the year before, and was the focal point of the offense for the majority of the year. But the point shouldn't be whether or not he's tired--the point should be whether the team plays better when he's there.

    Of our 20 most used 5-man rotations last year, Aldridge played center in 11 of them. With him at the 5, we outscored our opponents by 277 points in 1132 minutes. With Camby or Przy, we were ahead 66 points in 1269 minutes.

    In other words, with Aldridge at center, we had a +/- of 11.7 pts per 48 minutes. Umm...that's pretty darn good. If he can bring that, I say ride that horse until it collapses.

    I guess that's what I'm worried about. I think we did that with Roy and we lost a very great player. Personally, I would rather him have a good supporting cast and his minutes be reduced to 30-35 minutes a game. I think this all depends on GO. Roy, in my opinion, is a moot point. I think playing Roy this season is to show us fans that he can't ever get to where he once was, so an Amnesty will be an easier pill to swallow. Also, next summer we will have good cap to find a solid FA to build around LMA.

    This is why I would like to see the team bring in someone like Hayes. A line-up of LMA/Wallace/Batum is going to get beaten up on the boards.....and you can't run if you can't rebound. With an LMA/Hayes/Wallace line-up you have the toughness and rebounding to make the small-ball approach work.

    Yes he makes his teammates better
    Yes he assists them
    Not much D last year, but before that yes when the game was on the line (like most players)
    Yes he looks for their shots and mismatches
    No he is not concerned with his stats. It took his teammates a year and half to get it through his head that he needed to shoot more. He is not a selfish player.

    You are right that was simple.

    If Roy is Amnesty'd this summer; we should have around 12-15 million (not signing camby, resigning greg to around 8 mil a season, Wallace taking his option, Batum still having his rookie contract on the books). Maybe Storyteller can confirm.

    EDIT: Salary with Roy's contract 50,637,000 without 34,277,980

    NBik will not be on his rookie contract any longer, and Wallace would be foolish to opt out of his deal. That being said, we can have cap space if we let Oden, Batum, Felton all walk and amnesty Roy. Trade Wallace and obviously let Camby go. Again though, cap space doesn't matter to teams like Portland because big name FA's don't normally want to come to Portland. Keeping assets and trading them for big name players with multi year contracts is how to go about it.

    Why? An extension still has your rookie contract on the books, except it being a trade provision (Poison pill or something). So if he makes 3.1 million as the qualifying offer; wouldn't that make the new contract go into effect the following season? Or does the year before the QO apply? TO be honest, I don't know this.

    Yes. The Blazers need to use players/contracts like Felton, Wallace, Camby, and Wes this year, and later extended Batum and Oden, as contract matches to facilitate trades. Angling for big cap space next summer is a losing plan IMO.
