I remember hearing something about the 100th issue and all, I'm guessing it already came out? If anyone can show me a picture of the cover it would be much appreciated.
It just has Jordan's face on the cover. I'll see if I can find a picture online. Hell, the issue was a disappointment to me (I haven't read it yet)... the 10-year anniversary issue was so much bigger and heavier. This just felt like a normal issue.I couldn't find the whole cover, but this is like the main part of it:
The issue sucked. All it was was a bunch of articles telling me about Grant Hill when he played for Detroit, and stuff like that. Im sorry, I dont want to hear about Stephon Marbury either.
Yeah... the biggest thing about the issue was the "SLAM Top 25," the interview with Michael Jordan, and the Greatest SLAM Cover of All-Time (Allen Iverson with the blow out fro... "Soul On Ice").

Yeah the thing that bothers me about SLAM is that they seem to like flashy and "gangsta" players more then just solid basketball players. AI is in like every issue. I'm sick of hearing about him.

I'm sorry, but he was on the cover of like 9 issues. It's no fun hearing the same crap about him. I think that SLAM is gangsta because they seem to favour guys like Artest, Iverson, Stephon Marbury, and guys like that who have a bit of a gangster image.
SLAM's "street" image is exactly why it is so popular, and exactly why they indentified with Iverson, and if you don't like that image then I really don't understand why you continue to read it. To them Iverson represented an underdog, represented the streets, stayed true to himself, and represented everything that Jordan didn't... and that's why they chose him as the player who they wanted to identify their magazine with. He's been on the cover just as many times as Jordan. If you want to read the same old stuff, then subscribe to SI or ESPN...SLAM has gone downhill since Scoop Jackson left, and since Russ resigned as the editor in chief. I used to love reading the magazine from cover to cover, and now I can only bare reading a few articles.
They have this new guy, Dave Zirin. He writes great articles in the Hype section with alot of funny references. I think he should replace Scoop as writing the end of the issue column.I agree, the magazine has gone downhill. I have only been reading for like 2 years, but the AI in the suit and the Amare covers were very good. They have gone downhill from there for sure..
I don't know, I liked reading the little articles on "We Reminesce", with Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway, Vince Carter, and Chris Webber. But it didn't live up to expectations. Still, I've been getting Slam since issue 93 (not that long) and I liked it.
