No paper tickets this year for season ticket holders. The Blazers are going to send you a card per seat that you swipe at the door. I guess you can print each game out at home but that's just going to open the market for lots of counterfeit tickets.
So what happens when a season ticket holder can't go? Do they have to let their friends or even friends of friends borrow their card? Sketchy.
I'm sure that there will be some kind of email based system for that. Or will call. However, for the fans who are older or less tech savvy, it might cause issues (as far as trading/selling tickets, etc)
I am a 24 year old season ticket holder. It is so inconvenient to have a "credit card" type ticket. What happens when I lose my card? Am I screwed? I barely go on my season ticket holder account webpage because it is nothing more than nonsense. I would take the worst style paper tickets over a credit card any day. Its a lot more convenient than having to print off or email tickets on a day I cant make especially with the schedule as compact as it is.
i have to agree that this seems like a good idea but practically it creates a lot of headaches. when i lived in the area there were a group of about 10 of us that shared four sets of season tickets. i can't imagine the logistical nightmare of getting everyone a card for their specific game.
When i bought tickets online, I had to print them out. There was no issue about counterfeiting. They have a barcode that gets easily scanned. What happens if you lose your real credit card? How many times have you lost your real credit card?
Seems easier to me. You put the card in your wallet and your good to go for the entire season. Dont have to worry about grabbing the tix for each specific game. Using google, I found out that more and more pro teams are going this route. Nuggets, Rockets, Cavs, and Magic already do it in the NBA.
I hate this idea. I am a season ticket holder also, and I have two friends that buy most of my season. It is so easy for us to all get together and split the tickets up. Noe the Blazers are pushing the printing and hassle of splitting tickets off onto me. So not cool!
I wonder what percentage of STH actually attend most of their games, and how many split them up and/or sell them off like you. Do you think you're in the majority or the minority?
It wont be that difficult. Get together with a computer/laptop and simply email them the tickets they want to buy. Done. Why dont these two friends just go in on their own tickets and cut out the middle man? They would then also get the other benefits that go with being a season ticket holder.
STH, going on year 6. During a normal season, we pay for 44 games, and I attend probably in the neighborhood of 35 of those. The other 9 are usually distributed amongst other family members, or friends. I have sold some of those in the past, but always feel akward charging face value for a ticket that I paid far less for. Just makes me feel better to give those away. I actually will prefer the card, as having to remember to tear the CORRECT ticket out of the catalog of tickets is just a pain sometimes. The card will be in my wallet and available when needed. For the perso nwho asked about how to give, or sale your ticket to someone else, the email we recieved said that there will be a "code" to give to people to go online and print out your ticket. There wasn't much more info then that, but I'm sure the redemption code will make it quick and simple to give my tickets away if needed.
I own one seat and my dad owns the other. I travel A LOT for work. We usually split up tickets at the beginning of the season for games I know I cannot make. I am not always in a place where I can log onto my account manager and forward a ticket last minute. A lot of times I would sell or just plain give my tickets to some random person at the time. The one thing that irritates me the most is that the parking vouchers are being handled the same way. I come from work a lot of times and have no idea what I will do if I do not have my person car with my parking permit. Its not like I can park and go up to the box office and get a new one printed. I am just gonna call my rep and tell her that the least they can do for me after taking my money during the lockout is that she can get me printed tickets and parking passes. That is what I paid for.
