Glad to see the rip-through being demoted as a legit offensive move. With it being a non-shooting foul, it really re-balances the risk/reward evaluation in attempting it. If you try it and the defender doesn't bite, it usually results in a really bad shot. So risking that just to draw a foul typically on a perimeter defender (who isn't likely to foul out) just doesn't seem as great of an idea now.

But you know how many championships you need to be 4th all-time? 4. Aside from the L*kers, Celtics (who've won 1 in 25 years) and Jordan's Bulls (was that a Free-Agent SuperFriends Team?), the Spurs are 4th with their 4 championships.
I don't know that San Antonio was a hotbed of basketball in 1988. They won the lotto a couple times with the Admiral and Duncan, and made making a good organization their priority. I don't know that the Kings or Suns of the early-to-mid 2000's were all that far from winning. Indiana made it to the Finals. Boston sucked for almost 20 years between Bird's retirement and McHale's KG trade. The last big East Coast "basketball hotbed" city to win the championship before that was...who? NYK in 73? Not NJN. PHI (83?). WAS (78?). MIA wasn't even a team until 1988.

Is HOU, the 4th-largest city in the US, a warm-weather city with no state sales tax and a creative GM, being talked about as one of those 5? What about the Clippers? If the Nets are one of the powers now, who's to say that LAC can't be?

Sure, MIL may never have a dynasty. Neither will a lot of teams. Only the L*kers and Bulls over the last 20 years have had a "dynasty," and that probably has to do with teams having 2 of the top 5 players in the League while playing for Phil Jackson. I'm not lumping D'Antoni, Spoelstra, Avery Johnson or Vinny Del Negro in Zen Master category...no matter who they have on their team. Sorry.

BTW, Berger's one of the guys I've lost a lot of respect for this lockout, in terms of his views, opinions and reportage.

They should make a rule that a player can't dribble the ball, craddle the ball in the air and move it around, then dribble it again. They could call it "double dribble" or something.

And that you can only take two steps after picking up the ball. Maybe something clever like "traveling."

and how about a Kobe rule. If you barely touch him, its not a foul. If he smacks you, it is a foul! If he cries about it, its a technical foul.

Kinda like one game I saw where Kome drilled Blankey in the throat with his elbow -- tweet -- foul on Blankey's adam's apple. NBA, It's FAN-tastic.

Multiple league executives say the Knicks are now in the lead to land Tyson Chandler, jumping in front of the Warriors.

Ken Berger says the Knicks would move Ronny Turiaf to make room for Chandler, i wonder how much they would want for him.

Better than nothing, but it's a toothless compromise. The rip-through *should* be an offensive foul, since it is the offensive player putting the defensive player at a disadvantage through contact.

So Chandler this year and his buddy Cp3 next year? Things are falling into place for that orchestrated "dream team".

They can't sign him as a FA if they land Chandler.

    Chandler
    Stoudemire
    Anthony

They wont have the money or enough cap space for another big money player.

Yep, NYCC has now rolled their dice on their BIG 3 version, probably figured they could not land CP3 or Dwght or Deron. Awesome front line but apparently they will have to waive Billups and their guard situation is where there big weakness is. Who will be their PG?

Amare would make life hell for the Hornets.

His ego is too big for him to handle such a situation.

As SI.com reports, the Lakers, Hornets and Rockets are engaged in 3-way talks on deal that would send Chris Paul to Lakers.
