the best interests of that team are to stay competitive and gain assets for a guy that will walk at the end of the year. something they accomplished with the trade
Did you not read what I wrote? I hated the trade. I'm pissed because it fucks the chemistry up of 3 teams--not just the Lakers. He basically said that the GM of the Hornets isn't competent and can't do his job, and he took a killing away from the Hornets. Odom, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, Drago, and picks for Paul !? Tell me where the hell they're going to get a package better than that? After the season, Paul is going to walk away from the Hornets and they aren't going to get shit for him. I'm actually happy this trade was vetoed if you're talking just in terms of players, because I didn't want to give up 2 of our bigs for Paul. Now we can go give two of them for Dwight and piss off sour puss fans like you off even more.
I think he's talking about the travesty of Los Angeles getting much better. I doubt anyone would argue that lakers have one of the best shots at Howard. Paul, Howard and Kobe are immediate favorites to win it all. The travesty is the lock out was to try and keep an equal playing field. You can see smirks from espn analysts hinting Howard will be a laker. The nba has no control on that deal. With this one, at least they can 86 a shoe in championship.
That is going to happen and I will be pissed. And most laker fans won't give a shit like you, so why should I about any laker?
putting howard into the convo is irrelevant. He isn't on the team and has no relevance to the cp3 trade.
It's not like the Hornets will be owned by the NBA forever. Does it suck for New Orleans? Yes, but any trade could be considered biased while the league owns a team. The goal should be to find a buyer for the Hornets ASAP so they can get back to regular operations.
seriously, whoever said that stern nixed this because it made the lakers worse was on fucking point, i dont want to read this whole thread again to rep you, but virtualrep my friend, live long donged and prosper
no its not. howard has nothing to do with the cp3 trade. stating "the lakers have the best shot at him" is ridiculous. How do you know this? are you otis smith or mitch kupchak? for all we know otis could be trading howard to NJ for brook lopez.
After listening to the Laker radio station for 3 hours, I think they were far from done trading. This trade would have made them worse if they had stopped at that point, but they were not stopping. And IMO the league saw what was coming. I applaud them for once for stepping up and stopping certain teams from handing the Lakers another dynasty.
The problem is, it wasn't the Hornets that made the deal "lopsided", it was the Rockets. If the league nixed it because the team they owned was getting hosed, that'd be one thing. But to kill a trade because another team is coming out too well--doesn't seem reasonable. How pissed would we have been if one of KP's "pritchslap" deals got killed by the league because our GM was taking advantage of another team?
Has anybody thought about my boy Coach Monty Williams and what he has to be thinking? Was a storm he's in the middle of! His franchise player won't be there tomorrow to open up camp. He's gonna have like 4 guys there!
Please. You can't expect any other owner to really care about improving New Orleans... But you can certainly expect an owner to vote against a New Orleans trade that will lose his actual team money through revenue sharing... Why on earth wouldn't they? That particular argument has nothing to do with the Lakers. "Oh, so I get to improve other teams while losing money? Sign me up!"
When were we purchased by the NBA? Seriously guys, stop comparing this to anything else. I can't name one other situation when a team that was owned by the league made a huge trade such as this. Was the trade fair? That's debatable, but the idea of Chris Paul going to the Lakers was enough to draw the ire of most of the owners. I realize this is a messed up situation, but come on, how often can this possibly happen? I highly doubt that David Stern will ever step in and stop a trade from happening between two teams that are privately owned and not controlled by the collective.
Good luck with that. It's just grandstanding on his part. Enjoy your time in NO Chris. I'm so glad we didn't trade for him last summer.
I fucking love this. If D12 goes to the Nets, it makes it even better. #1: I'm a blazers fan #2: Fuck the Lakers. FEEL THE PAIN, BITCHES.
