I'm just thinking with Roy gone and now Oden out, is this team good enough to actually do anything or should we move some of our older pieces and go for young talent? Aldridge isn't that old, but Wallace is 29. I love GWalls game and I think he is a great guy to have on the team, but at this point we are either a few significant pieces away from competing for a championship, or we need to go young and add some guys to develop.

    Thoughts?

Yes if it lands us a superstar. Otherwise we are much better off with him IMO. The basketball gods owes us man. I'll take canny, Batum and Wallace for Turk and Howard please.

Semi-rebuild. It makes sense to deal him over Batum when you factor in the big age difference.

    Wallace/Felton/Matthews package is attractive.

Put camby instead of Matthews and you can land a marquee player that wants out.

I like all of the players we currently have so I think we should immediately trade them before their careers are cut short by some injury or medical condition.

at this point, anybody but Aldridge is available, obviously, LMA available for abig upgrade. So sure, if you get a great offer for him, or a good one, go for it. I don't do it for a total rebuild package, at the risk of alienating Aldridge in his prime, and listening to demands of wanting to be traded in a year.

Wallace has been a player that I have coveted for years. I'd like to see how he does with us for a full season. He is one tough SOB that plays all out for every possession. He's also a good guy. I say keep him.

However, if we start talking Howard or some other huge name (not Paul), you would be hard pressed to not include him.

I love Wallace, but we have too big a need for an established guard.

It really sucks because I was psyched to add him, but it doesn't make sense to have him on this team at this point. I don't see Felton, Matthews, Wallace, Aldridge, Camby going all the way. Maybe Felton will surprise us, and maybe Batum can play shooting guard, but I think Camby is done. I don't know. I guess wait and see how things go in the first 20 games or so and decide if a deal needs to be made before the deadline?

Why can't we deal Roy with the assurance that he will retire and clear the cap space off for a team? Do with Roy what Rasheed was willing to do for the Celts.

    Roy/Camby

    for

    Monta/Lee

    Felton
    Monta
    Wallace
    Aldridge
    Lee

Man... looking at our roster is depressing. All of the young talent is gone. We have zero depth. This season does not look good.

another team can't get the benefit of a medical retirement, so we can't trade Roy to someone, and have him retire for them.

I'd get the rebuild going ASAP. Trade Wallace, Camby and Felton if there any suitors. Make a run at Anthony Davis.

I'd rather keep Wallace for the season then get two late first round picks. We can re-evaluate the entire roster next offseason.

The Bobcats tried to trade Wallace last season and the two late picks was all he was worth; its quite unrealistic to expect more in return.

Roy played like crap last season and Oden didn't play a minute, yet we were still the 6th seed. I'm not ready to return to the Patternash dark ages of rebuilding yet. If we get one or two surprising additions in the next few years we could be close to a dark horse contender. I wouldn't throw away our roster yet, especially when rebuilding usually ends up with your prized draft picks jumping to larger markets anyways.

I agree. Maybe toss a new owner on that list too.

I thought about that too. There might not be much of a market for him.

Leaving a core of Wes, Batum and Aldridge just isn't bad enough to get top pick. You want Davis, you trade Aldridge.

If we can get a star and some crappy role players, I'd be all for it.

The team with the worst record never gets #1 it seems. You want to be in the #2-6 range.
