Example Carmelo Anthony. The management sucks especially their GM. the Draft was a showcase of that. does he deserve respect or should we be calling him chauvinistic(blindly loyal) instead.... he should realize that things arent looking too good.Paul Pierce they need a quality veteran, but they dont have one. I dont kno if he stayed b/c there will be som iverson trade, but the celtics wont become an elite team without another quality guy. soo. should we call them ignorant? respect them? admire their decision/stupidity because they kno(or should kno) their team is going nowhere and still stick with them.

I don't think we should necessarily respect them for something like that. I respect players for their game or their attitude, not if they are loyal. I love the fact that Paul is loyal, but that doesn't make me have any more respect for him.

I respect them because of it... I hate it when star players take the easy way out like Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady complaining to the media and not trying their hardest just to get out of a bad situation.Look at guys like AI, KG, and Pierce (just to name a few)... they aren't in great situations either but all three are willing to stay and try to do whatever it takes to turn their teams back into the right direction.

I don't necesarily gain respect for a player who stays with the same team. It's definently a good thing, but sometimes it's time to move on. I will only lose respect for a player who decides to change teams if he trashes the team to get his way out. I'm just glad to see these stars staying because it will keep parity in the NBA. All these teams would be terrible if their star didn't re-sign.

I know I respect them. If everyone was as loyal as them the NBA would have great rivalries like the 90s and 80s especially.

But yes it be better if they got a better gm.

I will never fault a guy for wanting to stay in one spot. If a guy is willing to stay with a franchise through the thick and thin then we should give him our respect. It's so easy for players to just pack up their things and demand a trade but it's those who chose to stay and try to fix things that really are special. Most of them stay because they feel a special bond between themselves and the fans. Iverson and Garnett are great examples of this.

Yes, I think so. KG and Paul Pierce both get my respect for staying through with their teams during rough times and never demanding trades. I think that is a respectful thing to do for a star player atleast, who could shine on any great team in the League.

Players deserve tons of respect with their team after hard times with the team, as well as the management. But I mean, its not like players who leave their team shouldnt deserve respect because they werent 'loyal'. If I was in a situation where I would get a lot more money elsewhere, I would do the same thing, which would be leaving the team. All I'm being is honest here.
