Kind of irked by Goldy's insistence that Jones represents the next wave of fighters coming into the sport. First thing--Jones is a freak of nature. That lanky, that athletic, that strong, and most importantly that talented--no can defend. That is not normal or modern, that is just a once-in-a-lifetime athlete. Second--guys aren't coming into the sport with six-months experience and shredding the UFC in the future. It is an anomaly. The reason people hate on Jones is because he's had it easy, seemingly. Decided to do MMA on a whim, was great right away, and hasn't faced any adversity. Hard to cheer for someone like that but I think everyone can still respect his skills.
Two fights in a row Ortiz has rolled over and quit after body shots. Supposedly he said he fought with a "bruised heart" last time out, and was clutching the same area this time. Dunno if that is better or worse than a "cracked skull".
Officiating was excellent tonight with the possible exception of allowing John Makdessi to grab the fence through repeated warnings. Ontario invited Big John, Herb Dean, Yves Lavigne, and Jake Rosenthal--can't do any better than that.
@arielhelwani - 139 and 140: greatest back-to-back PPVs in UFC history? Yeah, possibly. Best year ever for the UFC despite a lot of injury troubles.
Jones wasn't looking very sharp until he drilled Machida pretty good. That was pretty much the end for Machida. Badass finish by Jones but nice effort by Lyoto to give Jones some trouble. Mir must be stoked to have torn Nog's arm off. lol @ Hominick
Fuck, Nog was killing Mir in the stand up too. So, pissed that he lost. Side note: His plane looks like its got a pretty nice food spread.
He seems to be in a morphine haze, dunno if he's going to enjoy those Pringles. That's the UFC jet you sometimes see in DFW's video blogs. Nice way to travel.
Just from watching the fight it definitely looked like something on Nog's shoulder got mangled in addition to the arm but I haven't heard anything exactly. He will need surgery though. Mir coming off of Crocop KO, Big Country UD, and Big Nog sub but has been pretty unimpressive. Why does he just stand and take shots to the face in the standup and the clinch? I can't tell if hes just too lax, if hes too busy thinking and not reacting, or what it is. He seems lost in the clinch and has lost any explosiveness in his standup that he may have once had. Maybe adding weight slowed him down and worsened his already-suspect conditioning? I have to give him credit for the Nog and Crocop finishes but prior to that he looked mediocre in both fights. Interesting that he wants Cain. I can't see that fight ending well for him so long as Cain is careful not to give him any submission chances.

After dropping Machida's unconscious body to the mat, Jon Jones walked away, but his trainer Greg Jackson could be heard in the background moments later shouting "Jon! Jon Jones! Go check on Machida, get some fans!" Not shocking but usually something that is whispered rather than shouted.
