aka Aaron Gray, to a one year deal, says Yahoo More or less confirms that Bargnani won't be playing any centre this year.
Calderon, Bayless DeRozan, Barbosa, Butler Johnson, Forbes, Kleiza Bargnani, Davis Johnson?, Magloire, Gray, Salami
Seems like this schedule is necessitating that we have at least a 10-man team, rather than eight good rotation players and filler. We might actually rotate lineups when the schedule gets really insane.
Team Black Calderon DeRozan Johnson Bargnani Magloire Team Red Bayless Barbosa Forbes Johnson Gray Team Purple (TBD) Butler Kleiza Davis Alabi
Good signing. Low risk, low reward. Gray played pretty well with NOH at the end of last season. He's a good rebounder and solid position defender and an efficient, if unspectacular, scorer (at least he was with CP3 getting him the ball for some easy baskets). More or less confirms that Bargnani won't be playing any centre this year.[/QUOTE] This would be a good thing, and the best part of this signing, except where does this leave Bargnani? Do you move Bargs to the starting 4 and take away minutes from Amir Johnson and Ed Davis? Doesn't sound like a good plan to me. Unless Bargnani is traded (you wish), I suspect he'll still be your starting 5 with Gray backing him up. BNM
No fucking way. If Jamaal is anything more than your 3rd string center, you are fucked. As much as I rip on Bargs, he's a better center than Magloire at this point, and Aaron Gray does everything Magloire does, but does it better. I suspect your depth chart at center to be: Bargnani Gray Anyone with a pulse and a 10-day contract Magloire Amir and Ed Davis will split almost all of the minutes at the 4. Or, if you occasionally want to go big, white and goofy looking, a couple minutes here and there of Gray at the 5 and Bargs at the 4. BNM
And after you see him play, you may well wish he's the last! I've always thought it would be cool for Steve Nash to end his playing career with the Raps. Now that's one Canadian who can play ball - still! BNM
Seems to me that if Bargs isn't playing centre it's either going to be Johnson or one of the new signings, and Johnson at centre isn't a good option, either. I can't see the other guys posts in this thread but that is my understanding.
I'm assuming Gray will play centre. It might be ok as he's a big body and can handle the bigger centres #positivespin
