I remembered one game; maybe rookie or 2nd year; where he scored 30 points in 3 quarters. Not saying he can do it every game; but this kid has some fucking skills people. The amazing thing is I keep thinking and comparing him like Sheed, but with work ethic. If that holds true; he maybe considered a talent of even Garnett stature. All he needs is desire to want to be that guy. If we could somehow implant Roy's heart and desire in LMA's body; we would have the best player to ever play 5 in the game. AND I'M SERIOUS! I really can't believe that some people are willing to trade him after he's proven to constantly improve each and every year. He has hardly reached his ceiling.
Agreed, with some fine tuning (new moves) he should get a good shot off every time and/or get to the line. With a little work he can be unstoppable.
And, he still hasn't earned that official's respect like allstars do. I think he needs to make the team before he gets it. Once the officials call each time he's hit while going up; he will make it to the line more.
Aldridge is a fine player who has improved every season. I think he is very close to his ceiling now though..he would have been an excellent 3rd option if Roy and Oden had lived up to their expectations. Unfortunately that did not happen and LMA is going to be asked to carry a team... not exactly fair.
KG's Career stats and LMA's career stats The similarities are uncanny. So what is different between the two?
Let's slow down...... if he gives me the same #'s he did last season for the rest of his career, I'm one happy 1/2 Mexican!
But like I pointed out with KG's stats. I disagree with you. I think Aldridge has way more upside. If anything, a chance to become a leader. Each year he has improved his rebounding, FG%, attempts at the line and points. Why would you think that can't improve?
Well, what LMA doesn't have that KG has is the ability to face up, put the ball on the floor and consistently score. Right now he has a nice little jump hook and can hit a face up J. He does not have the ability to put the Rock on the floor and create. Thats a pretty tall order to ask him to become KG. I would not hold your breath.
These threads are nuts! Are you guys still fishing for a silver lining? LMA will never be as good as KG, get over it. He's a nice player, but superstar he isn't.
Year 1... Aldridge (Zach was still in town so he had very little minutes). 9.0 PPG, 50.3% FG, 5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks. KG: Being the only big man on the team. 10.4 ppg, 6.3 rebounds, 1.6 bpg 49% FG Year 2... Aldridge 17.8 ppg, 7.6 rebounds, 48% FG, 1.2 bpg - KG: 17 ppg, 8 rpg, 2.1 bpg, 49.9% FG Year 3... Aldridge 18.1 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 48.4% FG, 1 bpg - KG: 18.5 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 49.1% FG, 1.8 bpg Year 4... Aldridge 17.9 ppg, 8 rpg, 0.6 bpg, 49.5% FG - KG: 20.8 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 46% FG, 1.8 bpg Year 5... Aldridge 21.8 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.2 bpg, 50% FG - KG: 22.9 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 1.6 bpg, 49.7% FG Yeah very uncanny
Of course, because happy-go-lucky pollyannas are the majority on this forum, and doom and gloom peddlers are a persecuted minority.
I don't think we'll see LMA reach his full potential until we get a PG. As mediocre as Andre Miller was (twilight of his career) LMA looked great.
Garnett could guard PG's and averaged close to 5 assists a game Aldridge has a better post game though, as well as catching oop's
