Did we not already use our Vet Min on Thomas? I thought we got only one of those exceptions?

I'd much rather have Jamal Crawford then Reggie Evans. Yes we have more of a need for a PF then a SG, but Crawford has NBA talent, Evans is a bit player.

Well if he ends up coming here, it's a nice addition, probably not a real game-changer, but it certainly makes them more competitive for a little while. Even if he doesn't come here there are "advantages" (if you take a long run view).

There is no limit on the number of Vet minimum players you can sign. Its the minimum salary, but for old guys in the league with 10+ years experience they still get paid like $1.5 million.

We can sign as many vet. minimum contracts (which vary depending on # of years in the league) as we'd like. The MLE and BAE are the exceptions that we can only use once (assuming we amnesty Roy).

IIRC, you can only use one and not both in the same year ... FYI

No you can use the MLE every year, but only the BAE (Bi-Annual Exemption) ever other year. Yes you can use both in the same year, although I can't remember if we already used our BAE last season.

Would love to see us get injury exception for roy, sign Crawford with it, 1 year, 5 million. THEN, amnesty him, get the MLE, and use that on Landry. And use BAE on Fesenko or other 'project" big.

Is that really possible? Quick was speculating about it too.

Holy shit. That would be huge.

I doubt it's allowed, maybe with DPE, you have to keep player on roster or something. but worth trying, I tyhink.

    RE: Nikowhateverthefuckhisnameis:

Perhaps, but I guess it doesn't really matter as there's probably another way to go about signing a player to an MLE-sized contract: the Disabled Player Exception (via Roy). In that case, they could still use the BAE, too, no?

Hmmm ... I don't know why I was thinking you could only use one, but regardless, that BAE isn't likely to get the team much at roughly 1.8 million.

Last year, BAE was at 2 million, I think it is even higher this season, 2.3, or 2.9? Can't remember which

Of 3 reported Crawford finalists, Portland offers best combo of money, PT, shots & chance to win + near Seattle & friends on team.

This should make most of you happy

So wait we can get a 5 mil injury exemption for one year for Roy? - quick. Then we woulnt even have to amnesty Roy to offer 5 mil to Crawford for one year?

I think Crawford is a great pickup because he fills a lot of needs. He can play both guard positions and he provides some MUCH needed scoring off the bench.

Why exactly do the Blazers need a GM?

I do agree last season, our bench scoring was really hard to watch. Adding him and Batum off the bench is a nice scoring combo. Didn't know he could play some pg as well.
