This is at least better news than the reports of Christians being slaughtered in Egypt since the "Arab Spring" brought "freedom" to Egypt. http://www.yalibnan.com/2011/12/11/egypts-pm-says-economy-worse-than-anyone-can-imagine/
How can an economy be damaged by thousands of people sitting around in protest of the government? I thought that was a definite driving for economic growth. Ed O.
How can an Arab government with an economy growing at a 5% clip, and with women playing a role in business, be overthrown with the support of the USA and its President? By all accounts, the new 'government' is a loosely organized band of thugs who rape Christians and steal money from others. Contrarian Ed O. is a dullard these days. Reality doesn't stand up to your faux and contrived arguments. Egypt is a disaster. It's worse of now than a year ago.
So you think that I think that a bunch of people sitting around protesting is good for the economy? Do you really think that I was posting that in something other than sarcasm? Go ahead and keep calling me a dullard if it makes you feel better. Ed O.
Gee, I don't know. Maybe the people didn't like Mubarak? We weren't all that involved, as far as I remember. That's sort of fascinating. So the Egyptian military is "loosely organized"? Is raping Christians worse than raping other people? Can you steal money from anyone other than 'others'? So they decided to rebuild. Maybe they'll get a high draft pick this spring and get a superstar. Mubarak was getting old and couldn't jump anymore. In any case, it was their decision to make, so I'm not sure what your beef is, unless your last name is Mubarak? barfo
Egypt has too many liberals. If they'd sell the naming rights to each pyramid they'd bring billions into the economy. Quicken Loans Pyramid, Madison Square Pyramid, Chesapeake Energy Pyramid, Staples Pyramid.
All hell is breaking loose in Egypt. Who could have guessed that the Muslim Brotherhood would be more repressive than the Mubarak regime? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2075097/Egypt-protests-Sickening-images-police-brutality-posted-Twitter.html

Agreed PapaG, the US should not intervene. Unfortunately that's not the neocon way. Let them sort out their own problems. All we do is overthrow governments and have them spit back in our faces.
Great stuff, Papa. In the film you see why the pig is kicking her in the boobs. She and a couple of other demonstrators were trying to drag away a demonstrator who had been similarly beaten up, and the pigs caught up to them and apparently killed them. Oops--did I use the vernacular of the 60s? Must remember Orwell's year came and went and we all started pretending.
I looked again. A bunch of demonstrators were dragging away the woman, but it slowed them down. As the pigs caught up, demonstrators broke away one by one until only one was actually caught with her. Both got kicked many times, she for the second time since she was already unconscious, which is why they had been dragging her away. She is no doubt dead now. Speaking of women, where I come from kicking is considered a woman's way to fight. That's how they train the pigs and torturers from around the world at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Hard to say at this point. Groups even more militant than the MB are staking a claim to governing Egypt. Removing Mubarak, and celebrating is some accomplishment, left a huge power vacuum in Egypt, just as I posted on this board when it was happening, and Obama was bragging about it. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/18/us-egypt-election-islamist-idUSTRE7BH0MK20111218
