True, but our team is in an entirely different position now than they thought they would be in. I think if Brandon and Greg were both "healthy" they wouldn't be entertaining trading Crash.
If we make this move, I don't want to see any significant salaries coming back. Should just shed Wallace's contract and call it good. Like I said in the other thread, I think an Orlando first could be a lottery pick after trading Howard. Like that team is going to win anything with only Lopez and Wallace.
Orlando fans might riot though if they send out their lottery pick to us in the same year that they deal Howard.
Why would we trade an all-star forward, when we are short of forwards, for a guard, when we have a surplus of guards? Fuck picks. You go through many picks to find an all-star forward.
Nene staying in Denver. Nene is good, but not worth this kind of $$. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7...nuggets-re-sign-nene-5-year-67m-plus-contract
Exactly. Cap space is also fools gold and we would be lucky to get someone of Crash's ability to play for us. Waiting on the specifics to make a judgement though.
I'd rather just keep Crash on the roster and sign Crawford for a 1 year deal. Crash will either opt out of his contract in the summer or we could send him out next summer similar to Odom going to Dallas. So I don't think there is any need to trying to dump Crash right now even if we want the cap space next offseason. If Orlando and NJ gave us unprotected picks I'd consider it but 1 season of Crash is worth more then a Luke Babbit and Nolan Smith.
but one season of Crash where we're probably not in contention is not worth, say, 2 picks in the top 20 in this year's draft. Forget the TPE (which you could use on a variety of useful players, should you want to). Here's another great thing about the TPE (at least, I think you can do it)...let's say we trade Wallace today. Roster going into FA next year has ~25M in room. We can sign a couple of guys, while still being able to trade for a 9.5M player after filling up our cap space.
Nope. Exceptions count against the cap. So we'd have to waive it to create that extra 9.5 million in cap space.
It hurts to see Crash go, but the truth is he's another Josh Howard waiting to happen. With his style of play and his age, it's just a matter of time before he becomes a hobbled once-athletic small forward. You just hope your team isn't the one eating the bullet with a big contract in the game of injury roulette (as we have before). It probably is the time to "sell high" on Wallace, especially with Batum just now coming into his own off a good summer in Europe. I'll withhold judgment on the actual trade until details become more clear. But I'm fully on board with parlaying Wallace now into a more long-term investment.
If we got Humpries and picks, that may be worth it. It is alot easier to find help at the three than it is at backup 4. Have let it known many times I do not want Crash playing PF in fear of a concussion. Definitely do not think Humphries is worth 9M a year, but Humpries, Crawford, Williams, plus cap space and picks might be better than what Crash gives us.
Paul Allen could give a nice middle finger to the lakers by this Wallace rumor. Also, this gives the blazers arguably the best chance to land Chris Paul too. What justice if Portland was the team that helped keep Paul and Howard from going to tinsel town. Also, getting Paul would land us an Allstar too. How know maybe two this season. The nba said they want talent, youth and picks. If we have two first rounders we would meet that criteria. Also eith Wallace's contract gone, we could even resign Paul and still have 8-10 million to grab a free agent. Not saying cp3 deal will happen, but we would have the flexibility to make it happen.
Why are you obsessing so hard about Paul? Furthermore, if Eric Gordon, Kris Kaman and Minny's unprotected first round pick weren't good enough to get league approval for a trade (unless the Blazers plan to ship LMA to New Orleans) how do the Blazers trump that offer?
That wasn't the case Nik. That was why Clippers nixed the deal. They didn't want to give them Minny's pick and Gordon. It was one or the other. Oh and I don't really think Paul is a good idea. Just thinking this is their plan. Personally I am worried about Paul's knees. We have terrible luck with players and these injuries. I am just saying that this looks like something Brass is trying to go for. I may be dead wrong. It's not like I haven't been many times before.
