If this trade enables them to sign Jamal Crawford and Carl Landry for some short term help do you really think LMA cares? Something tells me he'd be more pissed if the team goes into the season with no viable backup for him at power forward because that means more wear and tear for him and more opportunities for injury. I can guarantee that's more important to LMA than playing with Wallace or the team's final record.

I, for one, would like to see this "guarantee" backed up.

I disagree. I can guarentee LA would rather have a roster with the best chance to go as far as they can than care about who is going to back him up.

    a) we have our pick
    b) we are rumored to get "multiple" picks
    c) NJN was already offering 2 1sts to ORL for this
    d) ORL is rumored to maybe sending theirs to us for Wallace.

There are 4 picks. If you don't think that one of NJN, ORL, HOU or POR will be in the conference finals, then that's 4 picks in the top 25.

Now that that's solved...how many of the last 4 draft picks were considered the "best draft in the decade?" And I'm pretty sure that in a retooling/rebuilding process we're not going with Eurostashes, so you can drop the faux outrage over Claver. Rush is foolish since he was only picked to complete the trade to Indy for Bayless.

To be honest, your trading and/or drafting skills aren't at issue here. 4 1st rounders, even if immediately traded, are worth well more than an aging used-to-be-allstar SF on the downside of his career. Do I think he's a good player? Yes. Do I want him on the team? Of course. Am I keeping him for some faux sense that he's better than 4 cost-controlled first rounders in the deepest draft in a decade, at one-half the cap cost this summer and the same salary over the next 4 years (of which he'll play the next 18 months)? Hell no.

    Chess. Not checkers.

There's no evidence of this except that you want it to happen.

As a professional athlete, you don't think LA's first concern is his health and durability? If that's not his first priority then he's a fool.

You are 100% accurate. But last time I checked, we are in a forum and all of us are just giving our two sense. I'm not saying this is something that will happen. I am saying it gives us the best opportunity to make it happen. And if we are possibly getting 4 first rounders, then that makes the possibility even greater. Regardless, a deal like this will just give us the best opportunity to be as flexible cap wise as anyone out there to land some marquee free-agents. If not Paul, then another or others.

this being a strong draft means that the top 10 or so is loaded, feel free to check out some mock drafts, us sitting in the low 20s is, and always will be, a total crapshoot

I cant think rationally on this subject
Wallace has been one of my alltime favorite players. I wanted to trade RLEC and Batum for :him bad in 08 and i was so stoked when we got him last year and i really want to see him and lma get more chemistry down and dominate this year. Everything i say in this thread would be with rose colored glasses thick that i see ewill becoming the next Wade.

Perusing the list of draftees slotted only after 15:

    the Zeller boys
    Austin Rivers
    Mason Plumlee
    James McAdoo
    Tony Wroten
    Myck Kabongo

yeah, none of those guys would help more than an opted-out Wallace next year. My bad.

But if you have 4 first rounders, you could potentially trade up in the draft no?

Orlando is rumored to be sending us their pick? I saw multiple picks mentioned. I saw no mention of Orlando in a rebuilding move giving up their draft pick. Where'd you see that? All it said was multiple picks. Could be a 2nd from orlando and a first from NJ. We don't know. I'd be interested to see where Orlando is rumored to give us their pick.

OK Chess hat on . . . . need to think about this, given a-d, wouldn't the analysis be 4 picks vs. 1 pick and Wallace (we already own our pick, right?). Why are you analyzing it as as 4 first round picks v. Wallace? I understand if you think he is better than 3 cost-controlled first rounders in the deepest draft in a decade, but that is the proper chess analysis right?

Sure. You get the cement bicycle. 3 extra 1sts vs. Wallace.

And yes, it could be an ORL 2nd rounder. Maybe it's for 2 years from now. I'm going by rumored scenarios. But I'm not going to say that Wallace is so important to this team that I wouldn't give him up in a potential walk year for even 2 first rounders this year and a 2nd in 2 years (or whatever).

A--Will he be an All-Star THIS YEAR?
B--What do you expect his value over replacement to be? I think it could almost be negative, if Nic plays well.
C--How many years do you expect him to stay, and at what salary?
D--How long do you think his back is going to hold up?
