Roy Amnesty and the Full MLE

    If Jamal Crawford ends up signing with Sacto, and there is nobody worth the full MLE for Portland to sign, will the Blazers not use the amnesty on Roy, and instead try to get him medically retired?

    Would that even matter?

    That does seem like the more likely option. Then save the amnesty for later on.

    It matters I guess, because they'd still have the amnesty to use on another contract if they really wanted to, but there's probably not much advantage considering most of our other contracts. It looks like a push to me.

    would make it more likely and perhaps and we just go after Reggie Evans with mini MLE

    I would think it would be good to keep the amnesty in case you want to dump Wallace in case he decides not to opt out and have more cap space this summer.

    I would think you would want to use the amnesty in order to avoid paying any tax this year.

    Is Roy's contract insured? I've seen various reports going either way. If it is, then the tax for this year would be far less than the insurance payments over the next 3 years.

    One for the life of the CBA and must be an existing contract, not a new one.
