If Jamal Crawford ends up signing with Sacto, and there is nobody worth the full MLE for Portland to sign, will the Blazers not use the amnesty on Roy, and instead try to get him medically retired? Would that even matter?
It matters I guess, because they'd still have the amnesty to use on another contract if they really wanted to, but there's probably not much advantage considering most of our other contracts. It looks like a push to me.
I would think it would be good to keep the amnesty in case you want to dump Wallace in case he decides not to opt out and have more cap space this summer.
Is Roy's contract insured? I've seen various reports going either way. If it is, then the tax for this year would be far less than the insurance payments over the next 3 years.
