Iverson is actually a pretty bad defender especially man to man defender. The only reason people say he's a good defender is because he gets a lot of steals but it's becausehe always takes risks in the passing lanes and sometimes he gets it but more times he doesn't and the player blows right by him.

As I recall he's not that good, just a stats guy.I think Bruce Bowen should win the award atleast once in his career, if you watch him he always keeps up with his man. When has anyone driven on Bowen?

He plays solid defense all around and is a good man to man defender unlike Ben Wallace who is average at that.

Re: Big Ben's Title I think it is time for Big Ben to step down as DPOY. I think they will give it to a new guy. My candidates are Artest, Bowen, Marion, Tim Duncan and Gerald Wallace. Big Ben will still be a candidate, but I think judges will realize that they need to give it someone else..

He's a horrible man on man defender and there's a lot of matchup problems against him because of his height. All he does is get steals. Remember this is coming from a huge AI fan that watches him play a lot. He is not a quality defender at all.

Steals mean nothing when you go after the ball instead of the man, and let everyone get by you.

C'mon give me a break. Camby was robbed of it 2 years ago because Ben Wallace has the bigger reputation, then this past year he was bothered by injuries, but when he was healthy and you brought it down his lane, don't expect it to go it.

Also coming from a huge AI fan who goes to games. I think Artest should get D player of the year. I mean look at the Kings before Artest they gave up like 6 more points a game then they do now with Artest.
