Apparently the Hornets are about to sign Gustavo Ayon, who is a Mexican national currently playing for Fuenlabrada in Spain. This is interesting for a couple of reasons: I believe he was keeping the Bobcats' Biyombo out of the first team, but more relevantly to us, he recently eclipsed Freeland at the top of the "Ranking" rankings (a sort of EFF stat they use in Europe). Now, as far as I can tell, he's kind of big and slow and clumsy, but seems to rack up the boards. He might give us some indication of how Freeland might fare. It's also interesting because (if it does happen) the Hornets managed to buy him out of his contract without any problem. I don't think we can do that right now for Freeland because Unicaja is a bigger and richer club and Freeland has been being developed for longer. BUT: if there's another player I would like to target it's Rafael Hettsheimeir who plays for a smaller club (CAI Zaragoza), is young, and actually outplayed Tiago Splitter on the Brazilian national team this Summer. And he's also moved ahead of Freeland in the rankings.

So those two will be barometers of how well Freeland will do in the NBA. Okay, keep us posted on their progress.
