I think it was two summers ago a former Blazer employee (or agent?) gave Canzano information that Roy's knees wouldn't last two more season and Oden had an expiring date as well. Does anybody remember this?
I'm trying to find that thread. He nailed the Roy stuff and spoke about Oden in the same light. I don't know if it was Canzano. It could have been Quick. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This was from last year IIRC. Basically he called the Roy situation before we even knew his knees were in bad shape. I brought this up because our center position is so bad. If this guy is right about Oden I think it'd be wise to start planning the present/future without Greg.
I used to fear that if we let go of Oden, he would get healthy and dominate somewhere else. I don't have that fear anymore. It'd be great if he stayed with us and found a way to contribute but I won't freak out if he leaves. Whoever signs him is in for a ton of headaches. Even when he was healthy, he'd pick up two quick fouls and find his way to the bench more often than not. I almost wish Oden would retire. Then we can be done with it all.
Not while Durant dominates for the next 12 years. Let's face it. That's going to be as big a part of Blazer history if Oden retires/leaves/gets injured/etc. On the topic of Oden and Roy having expiration dates, don't you think it's weird that Roy had to visit Dr. Roberts on his own and behind closed doors just to get an honest answer? I know Oden wants to play and I know everyone wants to see him play but I wonder how much we, as fans, are being lied to as well.
This sounds a bit black helicopters to me. Given Paul Allen's newfound parsimony, why wouldn't he just let Oden go? Especially after the last "setback"? Why keep throwing good money after bad?
