it's your opinion that without twitter, players won't be narcissistic? I'd surmise (since I don't generally twitter a lot) that each one of Eric's 27k followers cares enough about where he eats, where his cabaret is, etc. to make it worth his while to keep updating. Shaq's known for tweeting where he's eating and buying meals for people who show up.
Yeah, I'm with Brian on this one--players were narcissistic long before Twitter, and I seriously doubt it's making them any worse. However, it's enjoyable for those who like the little pointless insights into their favorite player's/celebrity's daily life, and it's harmless to those who are uninterested.
I got into twitter during the trade deadline last season and haven't looked back. I love getting the up to the minute updates or rumors around the league. It does get annoying with the players telling you what they are doing every second, but I just blow by those.
You didn't read anything I wrote. I said it was good for following the news and for self promotion for my career. I didn't say anything about following what people eat.
Apparently you didn't read what I wrote as I was responding to ABM's post of a tweet talking about being at California Pizza Kitchen. Who cares?
I was stoked. I actually drove down there, hunted down Elliot and told him that I had read his tweet. They laughed and bought me some pizza. Couldn't believe it.
I think he's got ya there, KingSpeed. If you go back and look at tlong's original response to my post, what i believe he was referring to was the apparent frivolous activity bandied about on twitter. You know, the "I'm having dinner with my homies right now", et al. You, OTOH, were pointing to more substantial activities and pertinent information offerings which take place out there. So, essentially, you guys are comparing apples to oranges, IMO.
But don't let that stop you. This thread reads like a Twitter exchange of deep thoughts. It shows why Twitter is criticized.
