According to reports and Donnie Nelson, Buckner is expected to sign with the Mavs and Griff is expected to resign. Officially bringing back the "Glue Crew." Also, we are not done, looking for a pg and Donnie said Van Horn could be used in a sign and trade for that option. Very nice recovery from the James thing, Buckner is a good defender, and can hit the 3 ball. Griff had to be back imo, he was key in both 60 win teams for a reason. I keep hearing Chucky Atkins as a option for backup pg. Thoughts?

[IMG] Depth Chart via LMF per Donnie. That's 15 players listed if we do pickup the options on Powell and Marshall. But Donnie also said we would be lookin for a third pg. Marshall I think is pretty much gone, and looks like DA will not be back. Unless of course, we do resign DA, something that wasn't given in the interview.

It looks like we're set for next year. I guess we are going to use Terry at the point guard and that Avery isn't a big fan of the small lineup of Harris and Terry. Maybe he will use it but not to start the game.

Not yet, Donnie said were going after a third pg, hopefully it's Marcus Banks. I'm pretty Rawle does not make the team(there's a glut at swing now) and DA takes a coaching job with us.

I like what they are doing Griffin and Buckner are excellent defenders. Also getting something instead of nothing for Van Horn is good too.

In game three alone he made zero three balls on eleven attempts. Throughout the season he had few good games from behind the arc. The other nights, he was just off and would force them.He is a good pickup, but Nuggets should've kept him. :ranting: Shutdown defender ho can guard the best of them.

He shot a decent percentage during the regular season and I did not say he was great at it. He can hit the 3 better then say Daniels/Griff. Especially if he's open, so I don't see any issue there. Also, he won't need to forcing any threes with our offense, he just needs to hit the open shot and play defense.

Were resigning Griffin and he's staying. Rawle Marshall will be cut. Also, I doubt Van Horn is used in a sign and trade.

I don't know about that linup posted at the top.I'd think it'sPG Terry/HarrisSG Buckner/Griff/AgerSF Howard/Stack/GriffPF Dirk/CroshereC Diop/Damp/MbengaOr something of that elk. Of course the starting SG isn't set, with Buckner/Griff/Ager in the hunt for that...and the other two as backups. And the backups for the swing positions will fluctuate between Stack, in his first off the bench role, and I believe Griff and Ager...with Harris some at the 2guard when we play that way.

But you can go either way as neither are a legit small forward.

I like the Mavericks dedication to building a defensive minded team around Dirk. He can be the catalyst on offense while the others chip in, and everyone on this squad seems to not only be good at defending, but very willing to do all of the scrappy little things. The Mavericks are looking like my favorite in the West from what they have done this offseason.

Yeah we almost went to the mistake from going to an all offensive lineup of Terry and Mike James. Mike James ended up saving us from ourselves. Buckner is a much better fit considering all the scorers we already have in Dirk, Howard, Terry, Stackhouse, Harris, and possibly Ager.

I have to disagree with the all scorers statement, because no offense but that's one of the reasons we lost against the Heat, our offense stalled a lot. Also, when Heat went zone against us, we couldn't execute on 3's and that led them to lay back on defense and pack it inside. Mike James would have helped in late quarter scoring if players go cold and in 3 pt shooting. He's not here and Buck was our backup option, he's not as good a threat from outside but his defense and occasionally range is a nice pickup.

Offense comes and goes but our problem against Miami was defense against Wade and rebounding. Dirk got manhandled by Haslem off the boards which was a surprise. I think the offense revolves fine around 3 players and occassional dunk by Diop and a an occassional 3 by Buckner.

Well no one is going to stop Wade and Buck is not the answer to guarding Wade. Also, we were outrebounded against the Heat, but outrebounded our opponenents in every playoff series before that. So I don't think our problem is rebounding. If we were able to hit threes and keep their defense to man and hit our shots, we would have won the series despite Wade.

I don't expect us to stop Wade with Buckner. Just don't make him look like Michael Jordan. The same with all the other shooting guards in the league. Jason Richardson, Kobe Bryant, Tracy Mcgrady, and etc.

Well Kobe only had one real good game against us, so I don't think we really had a problem besides with Wade.I like the makup of the Mavs right now...enough balance on both offense and defense, and the chemistry seems to work well.If they do pull something for Najera, I'd really love this team.
