<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>As soon as today, the Sixers are expected to send restricted free agent John Salmons to the Suns for a second-round pick and a $1.8 million trade exception, according to Tom Moore of the PhillyBurbs. Salmons will end up with a five-year, $22 million contract out of the deal, starting at $3.6 million and increasing annually by 10 percent, according to a source close to the situation.</div>I'm glad were getting rid of Salmons. Thisreally will help w/ our logjam at the wing positions. I wish though we could some how get Leandro Barbosa from this though.Still atleast were getting a draft pick and some cash for the FA market.http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives...cquire_salmons/

That is a great addition by the Suns. There's your pg Arizonafan :beerchug:Salmons is a good scorer too. He gets to the hole relentlessly. He can play pg, and he can ball handle. I dont know if he is the best passer, but there you go. Thats what you've got. From the 76ers standpoint, it isnt a huge loss because they already have Allen Iverson, Kevin Ollie, and Louis Williams. Lou should get some respectable minutes next season next when AI wants to play SG sometimes..
cb4, when will you realize that Salmons IS NOT a pg? He's a selfish player, and he'll disrupt the flow of the offense in Phoenix. Good move by Philly for not re-signing him.

He is a tweener guard that has no real pg skills and has a horrible fg %. When will you realize he isn't that great of a player. I'm glad were getting rid of him. This is not a huge loss to us at all. Now we just helped with the logjam at the wing positions and got a draft pick and money in the process. You seem to think Salmons is a lot better than he is.
Salmons "plays" point guard, but by no means is he a point guard. He dribbles up the court, and doesn't pass the ball half the time... he just isolates and shoots a jumper, which he doesn't make more than half the time. He still has a lot of improvement to make. I don't think he'll fit in well as a scorer with Phoenix simply because he scores most of his points at home, and is worthless offensively on the road.As for the Sixers, this doesn't necessarily open up time for Louis Williams. If Iverson stays, we have four point guards: Iverson, Ollie, Jay Williams, and Louis Williams.

If Iverson does stay though he'll probably play SG a lot more.
Exactly. He played pg. So that's why I call him a pg. I already stated that he probably wont do a good job passing when Nash is out, but hey. The Suns are a passing team. They will figure it out.

He played it once in a while but played SG more. He's not a great scorer either liek your making him out to be and shoots a horrible fg %.
He could be a good scorer off the bench for the Suns though, much like Barbosa. I actually compare him to Barbosa. Both get their points mainly by driving, both dont pass very well and arent true pg's. It's just that Barbosa is the better 3 point shooter, and Salmons is taller..

Barbosa owns Salmons and I would take Barbosa over Slamons in a heartbeat. Both players played around the same mpg while Barbosa averaged 6 more ppg. He also shot over 48% from the field unlike Salmons who shot a horrible 42%. Then there's 3pt %. Salmons shot under 30% where as Barbosa shot almost 45%./ Barbosa is easily a much better scorer than Salmons.

Playing Salmons at pg is playing someone out of position, bottom line. When Nash sits, there still stuck with a tweener that can't run the team. So no improvement in that department. Would you classify Bosh as a center because he played some last year for the Raptors or a power forward, his natural position CB4?

Barbosa is a HELL of alot quicker than Salmons, and he is way more efficient on offense. Salmons thinks he's good enough to take anyone off of iso's, but he just throws up bricks. And Salmons mainly plays SG, he only play pg sometimes, and he's horrible at it.

They arent identical, but they play similar games, except the things I already mentioned, like how Barbosa was the better shooter, although he only shot 36 percent in 04-05. Nash and the Suns offense is just making him shoot easier 3's, thus his percentage goes up. Same with Raja Bell..Salmons and Barbosa are both drivers, decent scorers, they both are combo guards, they both dont pass alot, but play pg sometimes, and they both either play along with, or back up the star player. And Rok, you're mistaking Villanueva with Bosh. It was Villanueva who spent alot of time at Center this year, not Bosh. Bosh hardly ever played at Center. That position was occupied by Charlie V, Pape Sow, Hoffa, Loren Woods. Charlie played a good 20 mpg there every night too. John Salmons actually spends alot of time at pg when AI wants to play SG for a while, and also when Iverson needs a break. That comparison is not valid at all.
why do you continue with this? They don't have similar skillsets. Barbosa is extremely quick, he is efficient. Salmons is a ballhog that takes horrible shots and turns it over. They are SOO different.you're wrong about Salmons playing pg alto. He hardly ever does. When AI is playing "SG", he still brings the ball up. Kevin Ollie was the starting pg for a while too.And i've seen Chris Bosh play Center numerous times. He guarded Raef every time the Cs played the Raps, and Raef played Center for us.
Dude, Im a fan of the Raptors, and Chris almost never plays Center...Only when Villanueva and the rest of our centers are out of the game and that almost never happens at one point..And I still think that Salmons plays similar to Barbosa..
salmons sucks, balls, not kidding. I hate this guy. A selfish guy that may unfortunately thrive in the suns system. I'm hoping he doesn't though.
