I never said my opinion was in the majority or even right, but it is how I feel when I think about him.

So - not a logical but emotional argument. Got it.

What makes it worse is how secretive Larry Miller is about it. What kind of "setback" did he have?

I know... Brass has something up their sleeve. Who knows, it's not like Oden's camp can just talk with other teams right now. And it's not like we can offer anything of an extension during this season right? I just want to fucking know! I hate being left in the dark.

To be fair, he was also near the top of the league in fouls/minute, and was only getting on the court for 24 mpg for a whopping 21 games before getting injured again.

Haven't seen him on the court since December 5, 2009, so it's tough to gauge where he would be at over two years later without a minute of game action.

Yes, it's been literally over two years now since the Blazers have had Oden on the court.

They should say exactly what the injury is. Simple as that.

An "issue with a non-weight bearing ligament"? Give me a break. What the fuck is that?

He'll prove to be a better pick than Durant

That is a ligament that is not fully healed. One that isn't worth risking damage too after all Greg's been through. The longer he waits the better IMO, and it appears to be the Blazers as well. That's not to say we don't want him back asap to get back in the groove for the post season.

You have to figure that at some point Camby may break down this season. So Oden would be a welcome rotation player. My worry is that Oden comes back in time for postseason and throws a wrench into the whole substitution pattern and chemistry. When Oden went down he was finally starting to look like a good big. I think when he is ready to come back, it is going to take him at least 15 games to become productive. It would be great if the Blazers came out like gangbusters this season and then got an infusion of a healthy Oden towards the end of the season, but something tells me it aint going to work out like that. My hunch is that Oden will be playing for his next year's contract and will throw a whole wrench into the offense. I hope it doesn't happen, but that is kind of what the tea leaves tell me.

I'm just wondering what the issue could be. Ligaments don't heal themselves, other than getting some scar tissue. So, either he did something to a ligament in rehab, or it didn't get fixed the first (second? third? fourth?) time.

They also say it's a non-weight bearing ligament. Makes me think it's an MCL issue, becaue MCL's dont really need to be repaired with a slight tear.

Greg's biggest problem is simply staying on the court and not fouling out. Doesn't take much at all for him to be productive, his presence alone is.

Just his ability to take a hit and still dunk; will be golden.... That is of course he still can do that. I think him just being a garbage man offensively and a great position and help defender; could propel us to contention.

Funny thing is, I said that after he missed his rookie season, and was piled upon repeatedly for thinking it was insane to build the offense around Oden. I still think he'd be a huge plus in that role, provided he can stay on the court.

Sweet, sweet redemption. I don't see anybody these days flaming people for not wanting to give over the entire team to Oden because of injury concerns. :)
