This was a great game. Great defensive presence from our bigs and I liked the play from Stephen Curry, David Lee and Monta Ellis. It just goes to show that playing strong defense can lead to easy offense. I like how we went to the post with Ellis, I liked the alley oop lobs from Curry, and I liked watching David Lee outwork Boozer in the post. Also great play from Brandon Rush. He is already looking like the sixth man for our squad and should be a starter if Curry gets put on the injured reserve list. Klay Thompson is a pretty smart player who understands the game. I hope it's only a matter of time before he starts getting more confident about his shot. His play sort of reminds me of the little things that Stephen Curry does as a passer. Can't complain about this game unless you count the re-injury to Stephen Curry.
I was thinking the same thing about Klay reminding me of Curry. Not the most athletic or fastest player but you can tell hes got an understanding of the game that puts him in the right place at the right time. Makes great use of the triple threat, surprisingly active on the glass and on defense. The shot should come around at some point. Man the interior defense was good last night. The frontcourt isn't the most talented but we've got size now and maybe we can get it done by just neutralizing the opposition. Udoh was a force on defense last year, now you shift him to the 4 and put a space eating defensive C next to him and thats a hard pairing to score on. Biedrins has some mojo back and looks heavier, he and Lee are still a bit lightweight for my tastes but they're rotating well and, Lee especially, were big reasons on why Rose couldn't get into the paint at will. Loving the new defensive scheme. Jackson/Malone shined last night. Really like how MJ put Lee on Noah and Beans on Boozer to start the game. This is only logical to me yet Smart always matched guys by position.
Great highlights from gumby!
That was smart because Noah isn't really a scorer, so you could hide David Lee on defense that way. Plus, Biedrins is a little bit heavier this year, he's got the length to disrupt passes and he has a quickness advantage to beat Boozer to spots on the floor. The thing about Boozer is if you deny him deep position in the paint, he's a little bit uncomfortable about taking the shot. He doesn't quite have the flip hook that David Lee has. Oh and we do have a true center IMO, but he needs to get into game shape. I'm talking about Kwame Brown. That guy can be big this year, I think. He is quite a presence if he can avoid foul trouble. If you are a post player, an you imagine that guy leaning on you most of the game? You'd be pretty tired or worn down from having been guarded by a dude that's 6'11 and close to 270 lbs.
Kwame Brown is the ideal center to pair with Dlee. Big with no need for help and no scoring ego. That would be huge because could just shift Biedrins to the second squad and let him play without worrying about fouling out and getting stuck short-handed. Biedrins needs to watch Kwame's defensive footwork and positioning and understand how to intimidate without fouling.
Love how Kwame knows when hes beat and fouls hard as well. For all the shit he gets for being a mentally weak bust he shows a little nastiness down low a la Perkins. Definitely timid on offense though lol and for good reason.
