First off the bad news is that Oregon is out of the picture for Poutasi according to DuckTerritory Not too happy with how OL recruiting went this year, considering when only have one that's a JC. Good news is that Pharo Brown will be announcing this weekend and it sounds like Oregon is the favorite
He didn't say Oregon is out of the picture, it's just that he's not visiting. He'll be announcing tomorrow and he said he's choosing between Oregon, Utah, and Oklahoma State. Though we probably are on the outside looking in.
the speculation I've read is that Poutasi will declare for the Utes. I'm not so concerned about the OLine recruiting this year as they're pretty stocked with talent... next cycle it will be more of a priority. That said, Murphy is the guy I'm really hoping for above all others they're reported to be after. Pharoah Brown would be another solid addition. We're the only school he's visited since the falling out with Michigan... STOMP
The rumor is that Pharaoh Brown will commit to Oregon tonight. http://highschoolsports.cleveland.c...mmit-to-the-university-of-oregon-source-says/ Will any team have a more athletic core of TE's than the Ducks? Lyerla, White, French, Bayliss, and Brown?
Hmm unless Brown Redshirts next year (if he commits that is) That would leave Lyerla, White (who I dont know if can be counted on healthwise) and French. I would think if Brown redshirts, French has to stay at TE, cause we would be awfully thin with only Lyerla and White. Although we would have two FR coming in (Brown and Baylis)
As you all know by now Brown is a Duck. He was also named the West MVP for the OD Bowl. So I think that is 18 commits and a guy on DT said we're probably saving the last spots for 1 OL, 1 WR, 1 RB, 1 DL, 1 MLB/CB.
Interesting. Baylis is having a huge year.... I anticipate a few offensive guys moving to defense. Brandon Bair came to Oregon as a two star, 235# TE. Mike Bellotti: "He's the line of scrimmage that we lose in Tim Day," Bellotti said of Bair. "Certainly we expect him to step in (TE) and help and we need to get him ready to go."
Pharaoh Brown played QB in high school before moving to DE for a year and then TE his senior year. He's a flexible athlete, and it sounds like he's got a lot of potential. An exciting get. Ed O.
Brown has potential. 4.7 40 speed, good size and 3.2 gpa. If he puts in the work, he could be a contributor. I've read he plays either very flat or all out/inspiring ball that overflows to the team. From what I've read, he wants to play offense.... Here's a nice read from McCallister who watched him play several times and reports on a bad game and good game. McCallister is a good read for following recruiting out this way: http://msrohio.com/index.php?option...rown-te-or-de-at-michigan-&catid=41:frontpage What surprises me the most so far this year are the two verbals out of tOhio Buckeye State now - Stanford and Brown. I admit, I've only been following Oregon recruiting for just over ten years, but I can't recall the last Ohio recruit who came to Oregon. Anyone? Ever? It's something to be very excited about given that kids are breast fed Big Ten, ACC and SEC at birth. If you've spent time in Ohio, you know what I'm talking about. In 1998, I was in a Cleveland bar with some coworkers on business. My Ducks gear nearly caused a riot and if not for a coworker who is a former DT and very intimidating, I'm not sure I would have walked out of there, lol. Lesson learned. I found it funny at the time but still hear the words, "We gonna open a can of Buckeye whoop-ass on this one..." LOL. Interesting....very, very interesting....a trend not to be overlooked.
If Buckner is added to the flock as expected, the commit tallies so far on each side are 7 on Offense vs 12 on D with 6 of those defensive commits being Lineman. Some guys will likely switch positions as it happens, but I don't see the defense as lacking quality depth where it's needed for some Offensive guys to switch to shore things up STOMP
Nice when the verbal is formally made. Big, big kid. 4* athlete and some say he's got the frame (6'7"/250#) to carry 20 more pounds, easy.
Like Targus said, nice to get his verbal. He seems like a really solid recruit and a good prospect. Ed O.
Rumors I've been hearing are Mickens is down to Washington and Oregon. Got to like the Ducks chances. I've heard rumblings that he might not qualify but nobody can confirm anything. Keep an eye on that.
Every year there's a handful of kids to don't qualify, enroll or end up in uniform. Sometimes it happens to a few of the better athletes. It's a bummer but it's the way it is.
Mickens seems to have been linked to Oregon for a while now, but has Oregon offered? Rivals and ESPN doesn't have him with an offer from the Ducks. It doesn't seem like he's at the top of their list, and given the number of commits they've got already, they need to be judicious in order to (hopefully) reel in the big fish. Ed O.
