if everyone was on lsd, then everyone would have that reality

the world is what you see, what you can touch, not some vague recollection of how things should be, used to be, or could be

He was unsupervised in L.A., hitting up the clubs, etc. Who knows how he got this setback. My guess is he wasn't as careful as he should have been. It was his fault.

Going from $8.9 to a mere $1.5m is drastic.

The Freedom of Information Act doesn't apply to NBA teams, so your anger is useless...they don't have to tell us shit.

Because of injury, we did not have to offer the QO, and would have still held his RFA rights. So his options were to find another offer from a team, which we easily would have matched, and then felt underpaid afterwards, sign for what ever we offered(1.5), or, just sit out a season entirely, rehabbing, and still been a RFA. He didn't have great options. He didn't "give back" money. He didn't choose to sign for less. He didn't have a choice.

(Unless I'm just completely off-base about this?) He's not a RFA, but the Blazers do still have bird rights.

Right, I meant, if we didn't offer him the QO this season, because of his injury, then he would have stayed a RFA. So his option was to do nothing at all, not play, not get paid, and still be a RFA, sign whatever we gave him, and be an UFA, or get an offer from elsewhere, at lower than he i slikely hoping he gets offered next season, and have it matched. In order to be UFA next season, this was his only option.

“There have not been any setbacks,” Conley said Saturday of Oden’s health. “That’s the best way to word it. Doctors really did not give him a hard time line (for a return) ... but he’s working hard and trying his best to get back.”

Chris Haynes thinks Greg Oden has played his last game as a Blazer:

The only thing Oden wants to do now is swing that trip-pod around and do tricks with it to get free mixed drinks.

If he's right, then what benefit did the Blazers get for signing him to the $1.5 million contract? The potential to get something back in a S&T? Or do you think they are merely thinking he might come back and play some games at the end of the season and they are willing to pay $1.5 million for the potential of that?

If they are willing to move on from the failed experiment, they should have just rescinded the QO and not negotiated any other deal.

Like some have posted above; maybe so Portland can still have his bird rights. Or some theorize that he maybe still a RFA

He's not a free agent, restricted or otherwise. He's under contract. Once that's up at the end of the season, he'll be an unrestricted free agent. Restricted free agency only applied to this past off-season.

I am not agreeing or disagreeing because, frankly, I really don't know. I am just summarizing what I've read in this thread.
